Stuart Adamson's Guitars
Adamson used a Yamaha SG throughout his time in the Skids and in early Big Country. It became somewhat of a trademark for him in the late 70's and early 80's. This video was the promo for 'Into the Valley' in 1979.
Adamson towards the end of Big Country was using a yellow ESP Stratocaster for most of the band's se as can be seen in this video from the Barrowlands Ballroom in Glasgow 1993.
Adamson used custom mad Moon Telecasters in the mid to late 80's during Big Country's most commercially successful period. At the start of this video he can be seen using one with a telecaster with a tremolo system during 'Chance'. At 9:14 he can be seen with another Moon Telecaster with no tremolo system.
Adamson uses a White Fender Stratocaster in this video from 0:00 to 0:30. This video is taken from an East Berlin Peace concert the year before the wall came down. Adamson also owned a sunburst stratocaster from 1983 and a natural stratocaster from the mid 1990's.
Adamson used a Cherry Sunburst Les Paul throughout his time in Big Country. He can be seen using one in this video from 1986 in New York.
In this clip from Children in Need 1989, Adamson can be seen using a Gibson ES-355 from 0:40 onwards during the songs 'Thirteen Valley's (Broken Heart)' and 'Peace in Our Time'.
Adamson uses a Red Telecaster almost exclusively for the song 'Ships'. He can be seen using one in this video from the Barrowland Ballroom in Glasgow in 1993

In the promotional video for "In a Big Country", Adamson can be seen playing an Antigua Strat. The first clear sighting occurs at the 10-second mark, but it can be glimpsed throughout the duration of the clip.
