Taylor Locke's Gear
Originally purchased for his wife, her father was a part of the Ed Sullivan show crew, so he bought her this Ed Sullivan edition Hofner. However, she never played it, so it sits in Taylor's studio for his use.
Taylor mentions being friends with Crowded House's guitar tech, who built the Hotcake overdrive pedal. It is supposedly Taylor's favourite drive pedal.
Taylor has a customized Gibson Melody Maker, where he had a custom pickguard and wiring harmness made to hold 2 Charlie Christian pickups. He calls it his "Telecaster" because of it's ability to recreate those tones, while still being a unique one of a kind guitar.
Taylor has an MIJ '54 Reissue in his studio "The Velveteen Laboratory" as seen in this episode of Produce Like A Pro with Warren Huart
Taylor has a Bluesbreaker combo in the live room of his studio "The Velveteen Laboratory"
You can see the Mackie Big Knob on Taylor's desk in the video
Taylor talks about how yes, he has lots of expensive microphones, and yes there are probably better sounding ones than the SM7B; but it's right there, ready to go - which is much more important in the studio when the inspiration strikes and you need to capture the magic take quickly.
