Tom Angelripper's Gear
Tom Angelripper is shown using a Warwick Stryker bass in the provided image.
In this user-uploaded photo, Tom Angelripper is seen with an Ibanez Destroyer bass, a model popularized by Cronos of Venom, whom Tom cites as an influence.
In this video we can see Tom Angelripper playing a natural finish Gibson Thunderbird bass.
That is surely a JCM 800, what I'm not sure of is if it's the Lead Series or the Bass one.
In the image in the video we can see Tom Angelripper holding a black Ibanez Iceman bass.
The interview is in german, here's the original sentence:
''Ohne Boxen geht nix.
It roughly translates as:
''Nothing works without boxes. Nothing is possible with just the instrument itself. In the early days it was just me and the instrument. That was already a magic instrument! My bass amp could not be heavily distorted, but I wanted to sound like Lemmy or Cronos. Then I got a Marshall Shredmaster. That's how I found my sound. I still have the pedal but I don't use it anymore. I have other stuff now. Later I sold my moped and then we bought brand new Marshall boxes. Three weeks later the rehearsal room was broken up and everything was gone.''
I guess that was the sound of ''In The Sign of Evil'' and ''Obsessed by Cruelty''. I'm not sure about ''Persecution Mania'': probably not, but it could be.

Tom Angelripper of Sodom uses the ESP LTD AP-4 Black Metal bass, as seen in the official music video for "Friendly Fire" by Steamhammer / SPV. I confirmed this after attending two Sodom concerts in 2024, where I noticed Angelripper’s new bass. After speaking with the band’s techs, who mentioned it was an LTD model, and conducting further research, I identified it as the ESP LTD AP-4 Black Metal. I even had the chance to see and touch the bass during the second show.
In this Instagram post, Tom Angelripper is seen with the roto sound strings, possibly being used on his Ibanez destroyer bass
