Best Guitar Combination on Two Guitarist Band
Recently, I started a band. I play bass and we have two guitarists. Lead singer + lead guitarist use Epiphone Dot. The other one, the rhythm guitarist want to buy his first electric guitar. I know it's the player, not the guitar. Every guitar can be compatible with the right settings. It's the preference of the guitarist. Etc. But, my other guitarist ask me, is it better for him to buy Stratocaster, Telecaster, Les Paul, or SG style guitar. He ask for the best compatibility for Dot on paper. Note, we're not looking an answer like player preference etc. We're asking which basic characteristic of each guitars that will complement Dot best. I mean, he said often saw Les Paul with Strat or Tele with Strat combo. Thank you before.

LD Systems D1011 or Samson c01
So, instead of buying condenser, I should bought dynamic? I can't afford the audio technica yet, but if it's the best, I'll try to save some more money. Btw, thanks Jim, you always give me solution lolSoSo

LD Systems D1011 or Samson c01
I'm learning to home recording and buying stuff slowly. Now, I want to buy condenser mic and in my area, the two cheapest is LD Systems D1011 and Samson c01. I don't want to spent more for my learning. Any opinion about that 2? Which one is the best? For vocal recording.

Just a little update, finally I buy him the Epiphone Dot. Not the studio version, but it's used. I let him pick himself. Now, he forgot his Les Paul. Thanks for the suggestion!

A little update, his girlfriend said to me, he is into Jazzmaster or Jaguar right now (she can't recall). Question is, which one will fit him better. On Squier line, which is better, VM or CV?

So, I want to give a birthday present for my little brother next month and I know he want a hollow body guitar. With my saving, these three is my only option:
Cort Source
Epiphone Dot Studio
Fender Modern Player Thinline Telecaster
He is big Les Paul sound fan for your consideration. I know some of you will say "just grab a Les Paul". But, he already have one and want a hollow body.
Out of that three, which one you recommend the most? Oh, and my brother prefer wider neck.

Hollow body bass that could play unplugged
Hey everyone, long time not here because busy for some stuff. I'm looking for a hollow body bass that could play unplugged without but with no feedback when I plugged. Which one is the best for that? Gretsch G5123B, Gretsch G5442BDC, Epiphone Jack Casady signature, Epiphone Viola, Epiphone Woody Allen, Fender Starcaster Bass, or Yamaha SA-70? Thanks guys. By the way, I'm not looking for Acoustic/Electric bass guitar

Best and worst bass you've played?
Dunno, played it long time ago when I don't have any basses yet so I should use a rent bass for a practice with my band

They said they'll sold it globally at the summer, until then it's closed for UK's market only. Gimme your opinion if you already play that and I'll appreciate that :D

Does anyone played this? What your opinion about this? Actually I'm gasing for this but it's not released yet on my country. Gimme your opinion

Best and worst bass you've played?
The best bass I played was Epiphone Thunderbird classic pro IV, I can't describe why, it just feel right when I play it. The worst bass? I don't know what it was, but looks like a copy of stingray, the weight's killing me and the sound was meh

Ah, I forgot Cadillac Records! I like Beyonce singing Aretha Franklin's. Why she's not singing something like that instead shaking her *ss and repeating the same lyrics?

Your Favorite Non Documentary Musical Movies
Mine are not in particular order too honestly. I like The Commitments, it's a good and inspiring movie. And for Sid and Nancy, even I like Sid a lot (he used to be my hero) the movie just too gore for me.
because its so true to the life of a working musician with big dreams.
You'll love Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, especially the manga (if you don't bother to read that). It's very inspiring story

Your Favorite Non Documentary Musical Movies
This is my list of my favorite non documentary musical movies:
School of Rock: the 1st musical movie I ever seen, suddenly in love with the cute bass player. It's a funny movie, I remembered the line that Jack Black's said "would you tell Picasso to sell one of his guitars?". I have a lot of fun watching this and never getting bored watch it again anytime they played it on tv. My favorite OST: School of Rock
Ray: this movie told me the other side of Ray Charles. Jamie Foxx was great as Ray Charles and the story is good. My favorite OST: Georgia on My Mind
The Blues Brothers: actually, some part of the storye kinda "meh" while the musical performances were great. I love when they played Solomon Burke's Everybody Needs Somebody. My favorite OST: Everybody Needs Somebody
Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad: it's a Japanese movie based on a manga with the same name. The movie's kinda creepy because they're doing something idiot for some scene. But it's like you watching your own life movie (especially if you read the manga, it always give me a goosebumps). My favorite OST: Evolution
Once: the movie were great, the soundtrack were good. Honestly, the best part of this movie were the ending. My favorite OST: Say It To Me Now
Midnight Sun: a Japanese movie (again). The story revolve around a 16 year old girl with talent but has an incurable disease. The story were great, even Hollywood confirmed they'll release they're version this year. My favorite OST: Goodbye Day
Still Crazy: it's a comedy about formerly hot shot rock band reunion. It's funny and hilarious movie. My favorite OST: The Flame Still Burns
Nowhere Boy: it's a John Lennon's biopic, it's interesting watching his meeting with Paul and formed The Beatles. My favorite line was "this is my Buddy Holly looks. My favorite OST: In The Spite Of The Danger
Scott Pilgrim vs The World: I know the movie's sucks, but c'mon, as a bass player I love the idea that the bass player are the lead role on the movie. I love the bass battle scene! My favorite OST: Garbage Truck
That's for now, if I remember or watching good non documentary musical movie again, I'll update it

It's okay man, just giving you an information that not every place in Indonesia are dangerous

My mom literally locked us on our house lol. It's not really normal here until about 1998 (there is a revolution back then, not really remember it, only 5 years old). And as I recall 2002 changed the history of our country. Our country used to be a very peaceful country. But don't worry if you plan to go here, just avoid Jakarta and Bali (I recommend you to Lombok, Jogjakarta, and Raja Ampat if you plan to go here. Googled it and you'll find out why)

About half an hour ago, me and my buddy want to go to some local music store (I just want to hang around while mu buddy want to bought some string, capo, and cables), until my mom phone me and asking me to stay where I am because there is a bomb on a central place in Jakarta. I turned the tv and watch the news, saying it's a suicide bombing. Fortunately there are no dead victim reported. You can see the amateur camera filmed here https://youtu.be/qRhXeGM-4RU

Kanye West claimed David Bowie was influence on him. I laughed so hard I nearly chucked milk on the TV
LOL

Anyone who knows absolutely nothing of how a guitar functions will give me this crap. Hell, my dad who loves classic rock and metal and worked at a Roland factory AND did sound tests and such doesn't understand the difference. However, he knows now.
I know man, sometimes it piss me off
As for Kanye, his ego may be disgustingly large, but no one can deny hos talent. It's pretty much a Bieber Effect. Pretty good at making music, but an ass when he's not on stage.
I just, don't like him and his music

Once again, it's not like I'm saying fancy guitar are matter. But why aren't buy at least a decent stuff? A guitar I talked here isn't a squier, it even worse, a guitar that built not even with a tonewood, with bad electronic, a bad fretboard, and produce not even a decent sound. Squier are a fine guitar. And when I said $50 guitars, they're really $50 guitars. And what I'm complained is about a people who call themselves a musician but can't tell the difference from a bad instrument to an at least decent instrument. And they're actually had the money to bought a decent guitar. Sorry, once again it's not like I'm saying the instrument is the only important thing, hope you get my point

Today is beatiful because I discovered Richie Kotzen
Yep, I like Billy Sheehan and have a great respect for him as a bassist. And I like Richie Kotzen's cover of BB King's Thrill Is Gone

What does this mean? Sorry I don't know slang too much hehehe
It was a joke derived of your native land sounding close to the word Indian, a phrase used by Westerners to refer to the native peoples of North America as well as a phrase from a popular TV series titled, "The Long Ranger", that the Indian sidekick would say. "How" was a term that Americans were told meant Hello in... some.... Indian language. No one really knows. Kemosabe was what the Indian sidekick would use as a term of endearment towards the Lone Ranger.
"How", was also used as a pun in the animated film "An American Tail: Fievel Goes West". "HOW.... do you DO!?"
Hahaha, I know many foreigner confuse us with Indian. But we're a country where The Tielman Brothers originally come from and a country with Bali, arguably one of pieces heaven on earth not so long time ago hehehe

Yup... we have the dubious honor of being the hometown of John Oates, Gamble & Huff (philly international), Todd Rundgren, Jaco Pastorius and the birthplace of Joan Jett... not to mention being the original taping location for American Bandstand (the rhythm guitarist in one of my bands was the son of a popular Bandstand dancer from the 50s who had a small-scale singing career after his stint on bandstand in the Frankie Valli mould)... we also had the original location of Sigma Sound Studios where I applied for a job as a very young man but didn't get hired because they were secretly going out of business. That ties into Bowie's demise since Sigma is where he did most of "Young Americans" with the mighty Carlos Alomar on guitar as well as a young Luther Vandross singing on his first professional sessions.
Cool man, you must be so proud of your hometown. The only good thing in my hometown is just a regular gig of great Indonesian bluesman (I recommended you to listen to Rama Satria Claproth for this). Also I met with Andy Tielman long time ago (when I was a kid). He is Indonesian with Netherlands citizen, even not from Jakarta.

Women look their hottest with a ponytail, no makeup, and some comfortable clothes that are easy to take off
Couldn't agree more on this
10yover 10 years ago
Mine are:
When people said a singer/band great fan but couldn't named 5 songs that doesn't on their top list, or even worse couldn't named more than 10 songs overall
When people said they worship a band but don't know the member (I know a person who claimed beatle die hard fan but don't have any idea who is George Harrison)
When member of a band came late for a jam, or even worse, a rehearsal, or more even worse, a gig
When people say "doesn't matter if your guitar are $50 local brand with low quality or a $1000 with great quality, the matter are your technique" I'm agree if technique is the most important, but c'mon good guitar could produce more good sound, right?
When people called a bunch of boys/girls or a boy/girl with goodlooking face and almost zero talent a legend
Kanye west. I hate him. So much.
10yover 10 years ago
When people don't know the name of the song they like singing so they just say half the chorus and hope the name is in there somewhere.
What's worse is when people hear the words wrong. "I've always liked that Metallica song, "Sand Patrol".
Totally agree for this. It makes me "meh" everytime people said something like "yeah I like Zeppelin's and she's buying a stairway to heaven"
