This bare bones microphone is not use for singing but for vocoding with Wavestation A/D, JD-Xi and Mininova. It was substituted by Audio Technica Pro 8 HEx.

Useful alternate controller

Actually Yamaha breath controllers are items of a (recent) past. The three diapason brand decided not to produce them anymore and from Motif XS series on all musical instruments with keyboard are lacking of BC input. This is a pity, because BC allows the player to add subtle expression to sounds. On a synthesizer sometimes MW, PB, aftertouch and expression/volume pedals are not enough to mimic an acoustic instrument. That's why a BC can add what it lacks.

Used as submixer's submixer. The audio chain is made up 2 MotU 828mk3 and 2 Pre, Yamaha 01v+MY-8AD-24 (submixer hooked to the first 828mk3 via SPDIF). MX-822 uses a couple of audio ins from MY-8AD-24.

Used mainly to feed the vocoder section of my mini synthezizers: JD-Xi and Mininova and have free hands.

Used s/h for a fair price. I wouldn't buy again. Quite disappointed by its microphone preamplifiers, expecially when trying to record line signals from analog devices. In particular, recording a Roland JX-10 was a pain in the ass... It's better having more background noise and a good overal sound or a weaker signal that must be normalized then?

In a hate-love relationship since december 2016. While some sound banks, expecially Analog Voltage by the exceptional Don Solaris, transform Blofeld in a great sound generator, the factory patches are quite disappointing to say the least. Within 1024 patches I found usable a small part.

Another under appreciated musical instruments from the nineties. The powerfulness of Z-Plane filters, although the internal WaveROM is quite small - 8MBs - allows to create lush and strange timbres, useful for sound resarch, electronica and soundtrack genres.

This is was my first GM expander. It opened me the door to multitrack sequences played back by a single instrument. Since then I had to compose my sequences using several synthesizers driven by a sequencer. 03R/W has also a Program/Combination section that sounds stil good today.

This is the rack version of the well-known Roland SC-88. It lacks display, but it gains a couple of separate stereo outputs, where different sounds can be routed to mixer inputs for diverse processing. All in all it's a Roland SC-55 Sound Canvas on steroids, its strenght is on reproducing multitimbral sequences with several instruments at the same time, while single sounds are a little weak.

Perhaps this is one of the most misunderstoood and under appreciated synthesizer Yamaha has ever built. If FM syntesis is complicated and hard to carry out with just 6 operators, let's imagine what might happen with 8 voiced and 8 unvoiced operators. FS1R is a real power, but almost impossible to operate with its tiny display. Formant synthesis is a great thing, useful to create particular sound textures impossible to reproduce with other synth engines. Without an editor with graphical interface FS1R can't be managed. Period.

In 1993 I bought a second hand D-50 but its keyboard was completely without aftertouch and dynamics was quite hard to manage. On one hand I was fascinated by its timbre on the other hand I realized that the instrument was really a crap and only when driven by an external keyboard I obtained the sounds I had in mind. Thus after almost six/eight months of suffering I gave it away to a musician who used it as an expander. Several years after, Roland had this great idea to reissue a great classic synthesizer such as D-50, in a more compact size. The sound is unmistakably the same.

I have also a couple of them. FC-7 is one of the best expression pedals I've ever used. It's progressive and lets you managing controllers excursions the best way... Nonetheless it's very solid and sturdy.

Impossible to destoy... I have a couple of them. The first one accompained Yamaha S90ES, bought in 2005, and it still rocks as if it were new.

Bought new in 1992 after I had traded Yamaha DX7mkI few years before to buy a Fostex A-80 and 450, respectively reel to reel 8 track 1/4 tape recorder and 8:4:2 mixer. With Opcode Galaxy plus Editors I succeeded converting old DX7mkI patches into TG77 ones and the better clarity of converters added a crisp to the sound I've just imagined with the former synthesizer.

the whole SY series is so criminally underrated. they're all DX7 mkIIs with wavestation features grafted on as well as filtering. I often consider losing my beloved IIFD in favor of an SY77 or 99

MC-80 used in my studio is equipped with VE-GS PRO and CompactFlash reader/writer.

In my studio I can include two Roland PG-800. This programmer is used to edit, respectively, JX-10 and MKS-70 patches.

Althoug bought with great expectations, I found this software package quite disappointing. Several GB of samples, but not everything of pristine quality.

Version: Native Instruments Komplete 9

This wonderful expansion board is installed respectively in a Roland JV-2080 and a Roland JD-990.

In my studio, to connect all the gear I had to provide 6 Adam Hall 87471

I bought MS-70 CDR hoping it would substitute Strymon Big Sky, but I was wrong. All in all this stompbox effect has a great price quality ratio, but it's light years from Big Sky.
