Euphonix was a professional audio company based in Mountain View, California, founded in the late 1980s out of a Palo Alto garage. The company made its name building the first commercially successful line of large digitally-controlled analog mixing consoles, beginning with the Crescendo delivered in 1990 and evolving through the CSII, CS2000, and CS3000 platforms used in music, film, and broadcast facilities throughout the 1990s.
Starting in 1999, Euphonix shifted to all-digital systems with the launch of System 5, a high-performance console aimed at audio post-production and music mixing, later joined by the System 5-MC variant. The company also developed the EuCon control protocol and the Artist Series of compact DAW controllers — the MC Mix, MC Control, MC Transport, and MC Pro — designed to integrate with applications like Pro Tools, Logic Pro, Nuendo, and Cubase.
Euphonix was acquired by Avid Technology in 2010, and its console and control-surface lines were folded into Avid's professional audio product family, where the S5 Fusion and Artist Series hardware continued to be sold and supported.
Euphonix has 6 products cataloged on Equipboard, including DAW Controllers, Mixers, and Digital. Their gear is featured by 9 artists, with the strongest followings in Electronic, Rock, and Pop. Notable users include Johnny Marr, Russell Mael, and Squarepusher.
