Diamond Pedals is a Canadian guitar effects pedal company founded in 2003 by Mike Knappe, who holds multiple patents in signal processing algorithms and psychoacoustics. The brand made its mark in 2005 with the introduction of the Memory Lane, widely recognized as the world's first all-analog tap-tempo delay, alongside the CPR-1 Compressor, which became one of the most sought-after compressor pedals in the boutique market. Originally based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, the company built a devoted following among professional guitarists and tone enthusiasts.
After the original operation closed its doors in 2020, Diamond was acquired by SolidGoldFX's Greg Djerrahian and relaunched in 2023 with manufacturing relocated to Montreal, Quebec. The revived lineup retains the original circuit designs while incorporating updated components and manufacturing processes. The current catalog includes the Memory Lane STM32 delay, Comp/EQ and Bass Comp/EQ compressors, Vibrato, Tremolo, Dark Cloud, Diamond Drive, Boost/EQ, and F-Octave pedals.
Diamond pedals have earned a place on the pedalboards of notable guitarists including The Edge of U2, Johnny Marr of The Smiths, and Ed O'Brien of Radiohead. Marr has publicly praised the Diamond Compressor as essential to his sound, calling it "the best" for pairing with his Jaguars.
Diamond has 70 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Compressor Effects Pedals, Delay Effects Pedals, and Solid Body Electric Guitars. Their gear is featured by 135 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Folk, World, & Country. Notable users include Zoltan Bathory, Tim D'eon, and Ed O'Brien. Diamond's catalog spans the full price spectrum — from entry-level options to high-end flagships.
