Inward Connections is a Los Angeles-based professional audio company founded in 1987 by Steve Firlotte. The brand built its reputation on high-end outboard gear rooted in discrete and tube circuit design, including mic preamps, compressors, equalizers, and summing amplifiers. Early signature products include the Vac Rac modular tube processing system and the DMS Discreet Monitoring System, followed by the TSL-3 stereo tube limiter, which became a fixture on rock vocals and drum buses in pro studios.

The company later expanded into 500-series modules built around its custom VF-600 discrete op-amp, a line that includes the Brute optical compressor (derived from the TSL-3 circuit), the Magnum mic preamp, the Vogad VCA compressor, and the BadBoy VCA compressor. Other notable pieces include the TLM-1 tube limiter, TMP-1 tube mic preamp, DEQ-1 parametric EQ, and the Mix 690 16-channel discrete summing mixer. The gear is generally associated with a warm, full-bodied character and solid mechanical build.

Beyond off-the-shelf products, Inward Connections also built custom recording consoles, including units made for Flea of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and for Weezer. Firlotte later co-founded Tree Audio, which pursues a cleaner, more transparent tonal approach than the vintage-colored voicing Inward Connections became known for.

Inward Connections has 16 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Effects Processors, Mixers, and Preamps. Their gear is featured by 14 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Pop, and Electronic. Notable users include Steve Vai, Alessandro Cortini, and Josh Kiszka.
