EMT (Elektromesstechnik) is a German-Swiss professional audio manufacturer founded in 1938 in Berlin by Wilhelm Franz. The company built its reputation on broadcast-grade turntables, most notably the EMT 927 introduced in 1951 and the later EMT 930, which became standards in radio stations and mastering rooms for their heavy-duty construction and idler-drive sound. Their arrowhead logo became shorthand for uncompromising German studio engineering.

EMT's most influential contribution to music production came in 1957 with the EMT 140, the first commercial plate reverb. Using a large suspended steel sheet excited by transducers, the 140 offered lush, dense reverberation that quickly became a fixture at Abbey Road, Motown, and countless other studios, and it has been widely emulated in plug-in form. In 1976 EMT collaborated on the EMT 250, one of the first practical digital reverberators, whose distinctive sound has also been modeled extensively in software.

Alongside its reverbs, EMT developed a parallel line of phono cartridges and tonearms that remain in production. The TSD 15, launched in 1965, and subsequent models like the JSD and HSD series are considered references for moving-coil playback. Today EMT Tontechnik, a division of HiFiction AG based in Turbenthal, Switzerland, produces EMT turntables such as the 928 II, the 909 and 912 tonearms, the 128 phono preamplifier, and the JPA 66 tube preamp, continuing the broadcast-heritage tradition in a high-end audio context.
