JZ Microphones is a studio microphone manufacturer based in Riga, Latvia, founded in 2007 by Juris Zarins. Before starting the company, Zarins spent two decades repairing classic microphones from makers such as Neumann, AKG, and Telefunken, and participated in the early manufacturing work behind Blue Microphones and Violet Design. The brand's microphones are hand-built in Latvia and centered on Zarins' proprietary Golden Drop Capsule, a diaphragm design intended to reduce mass so the capsule responds faster with less coloration.
