Microtech Gefell is a German microphone manufacturer based in the small town of Gefell, Thuringia. The company traces its roots to 1928, when Georg Neumann set up a satellite operation there, and to 1943, when Neumann relocated his Berlin staff to Gefell after his factory was bombed. After the division of Germany the Gefell branch was nationalized as VEB Mikrofontechnik Gefell, and following reunification it became an independent, privately-held company under the Kühnast and Drechsler families.
