Murat Diril Cymbals is a Turkish cymbal manufacturer founded in 2008 by master cymbalsmith Murat Diril, who learned his craft in Istanbul under Mehmet Tamdeger and Agop Tomurcuk of Istanbul Cymbals before going on to collaborate on Meinl's Byzance and MB20 lines and Paiste's Twenty series. The workshop is based in the Tekeköy district of Samsun, on Turkey's Black Sea coast, where cymbals are cast from B20 bronze ingots in the company's own foundry, heated in wood-burning ovens, rolled, lathed, and hand hammered.
The lineup is built around several traditional B20 series, including Black Sea, Speckled, Renaissance, Jazz, and MDB, alongside custom-made cymbals, gongs, and orchestral instruments. The Black Sea series is named after the shoreline near the company's home in Samsun and is characterized by a dry, dark, complex sound with short sustain, while the Speckled series is known for darker, slightly trashy bodies and softer hi-hat responses. Sizes across the catalog typically range from small splashes up to 28-inch rides.
The company runs a "Team Murat" endorsement program for featured artists and distributes through international dealers and shops such as Round Sound Cymbals and Rigmus, with a separate Canadian storefront at muratdiril.ca. Murat Diril himself is sometimes referred to in drumming press as "the Father of Cymbals" in reference to his role in shaping several major modern Turkish-style cymbal lines before launching his own brand.
Murat Diril has 6 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Crash Cymbals and Ride Cymbals. Their gear is featured by 4 artists, with the strongest followings in Pop, Rock, and Jazz. Notable users include Gusti Hendy, Jacob Collier, and Yoon Do Woon.
