My go-to plugin for sidechaining synths

When I'm sidechaining my hi-hats, I usually go to the Fruity Limiter. But when I'm sidechaining basses or pads, I use this. It's rather simple, but very effective. (It's also very good for cutting out naughty words in your vocals ;3)

A great slicing tool

If I ever need to slice up drum breaks or vocals, this is the plugin I use. I would definitely recommend it.

circuitmind

My primary compressor

Whenever I need to compress a track, I throw this on the master. I prefer using Maximus for individual elements of a track, but this is what I use when mastering the final track.

You know any type of setting I could use to make it sound like radio quality? Thanks bro!

My go-to plugin for distortion

Whenever I need distortion, this is the plugin I go to. I think it (along with other great Image Line plugins) is available on Image Line's website, and it's definitely worth it.

A very good equalizer

This is FL Studio's default EQ, and the only one I've used (though I do hope to expand to Fabfilter Pro Q 2). It's very good, and the spectrograph is very help for finding this undesirable frequencies. Also, automating a bandpass filter in this can make some pretty good wobble sounds (I learned that trick SeamlessR ;) )

Very nice guitar amp

If you need a virtual guitar amp and you can't afford Guitar Rig (like me), this is a pretty good substitute. I'd prefer Guitar Rig since it seems more versatile, but this is good for now.

A pretty good freeware bass rompler

I haven't had much of an opportunity to use this, but it's got a pretty realistic sound

A fun thing to mess around with

This isn't an absolute necessity, but it's just fun to mess around with.

A simple synth with hidden potential

For a short while, this synth was the one I mainly used. It's incredibly simple, but the music I was producing at the time was simple. And, in general, if you're using 3x Osc, you're going to be making simple sounds...unless you discover the hidden potential for some amazing glitch sounds. Using the porta feature, slide notes, and Image Line's Gross Beat, you can get some really good glitchy leads and basses out of this. However, on it's own, 3x Osc is just fine.

The best freeware synth out there

If you're new (and I mean VERY new) to creating electronic music, this is one of the best synths you can have. It's got pretty much all the essentials of subtractive synthesis (and more), so it's a great learning tool. It's also absolute amazing for creating a eurobeat brass. Honestly, if I didn't have Harmor, I could just use this because it's that good.

circuitmind

An absolute amazing compressor

I absolutely love Maximus. I use it in pretty much all my harsh bass sounds, as well as compressing my drums. Another absolute necessity for my music.

circuitmind

An amazing FM synth

I've personally never worked with FM8, or any other frequency modulation synthesizer. Honestly, even if FM8 was objectively better, I'm too use to Sytrus to be able to do much with FM8. It's great for those harsh leads and talking basses.

This piano...this freaking piano...

Honestly, I don't think there's a better piano plugin this. I prefer this free(!) plugin to the piano sounds that come with reFX Nexus, which is $250. I know that's personal preference, and you may prefer Nexus' piano sounds, but I still think this is the best piano plugin out there. The only problem is that you can't use staccato progressions.

Great review & recommendation, thanks. That's very high praise for a free piano VST! Going to download it and check it out. :)

An amazing synth

If you ask me, Harmor deserves the reputation Massive has (and by that I mean it should be sought after by thousands of aspiring electro/dubstep producers). I first discovered it's power while watching SeamlessR's tutorials and live streams, and since then pretty much all of my productions have used Harmor in some way. A great synth for leads, pads, and especially basses. It's about one hundred dollars on Guitar Center, and it's the best hundred dollars you'll make buying a VST.

There's no reason not to have this plugin

If you plan to use chiptunes in any of your productions, whether the song be house, dubstep, or trance, this is plugin is an absolute must have. While it may not have the fast-paced arps that I commonly associate with chiptune, it's definitely got the great lead and chord sounds. That, combined with the fact that it's free, means there's no reason not to have this (unless you're an acoustic artist.)
