depends..

maybe the best sounding chorus i've ever used. the vibrato settings are also very good. the pedal looks cool. literally the ONLY real problem is that it runs on 18 volts. you either have to have a power supply that can deal with that(i didnt) or you have to buy a new one or use what comes with the pedal. so youre entire board would run with one power supply plugged in, PLUS this pedal plugged in by itself. really annoying. if you LOVE chorus though, prob the best you'll find.

the best.

I've read for years that this is the best chorus/vibrato pedal out there. i finally found one at a local music go round and bought it immediately. what you've heard is true! no volume bump/drop, unbelievable sounds, simple controls. plus, it looks cool. couldnt ask for a better chorus/vibrato.

awesome

this punches way above it's price. solid, quality pedal, soft switch, great sounds, and brand new for about $100. can't beat it.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

i love the Haze setting, its kind of lo-fi and almost a touch bit-crushy without being obnoxious.

the best.

I finally found what I believe to be the best compressor out there. I've tried the Xotic SP, the Boss CS-3, the Keeley, and for one reason or another, I got rid of all the others. The SP was cool, but I found that the three modes had pretty big jumps in settings and I wanted some more controls. The Boss sounded a little plasticy to me for lack of a better term. And the Keeley, with my set up anyway, brought a lot of noise to the chain. Or rather, it magnified the noise from my signal coils and etc. This though... this is perfect. It gives me all the sustain and squeeze I want, it has a blend knob, i can absolutely crank it and its still noise free, plus, it's a beautiful little pedal. Not the cheapest out there, but the best if you ask me!

underrated

underrated pedal. It's ultimately a nice warm drive that can get REALLY sputtery and wild if you push it. I struggled with it initially because I loved how it sounded solo, but i couldn't combine it with my drives like I thought i could. After much trial and error I settled on using it as a 'simple' overdrive, with a cranked Rat before the Crayon. I always go low to high gain, but this pedal really sounds good with a pushed Rat into it for really heavy tones with a bit of sputter. Check out some videos. It's not for everyone, but if you like what you hear, I urge you to pick one up, there's nothing quite like it.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

After a Rat is killer!

hound_of_durango

BUY it.

This is probably the best guitar pedal that's ever been produced. No bad sounds. Just class and wonderful ambience. No matter what your style, setup, genres, etc, you need to buy this now.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

ANY setting is a great setting.

hound_of_durango

Great!

I love vibrato but most pedals are either combos with chorus, which I didn't need, or expensive stand-alone units like the Boss. This is perfect. Well built, looks good, sounds great, a soft switch, and a great price. Can't go wrong.

don't hesitate

I was a little hesitant with this one, I read plenty of reviews and watched videos where a lot of people mentioned that the pedal is super noisy. This has NOT been my experience at all. I'm playing a cheap telecaster with single coils and I'm not getting any noise. Maybe there was a bad batch? Or maybe people are using it in strange spots in their signal chain? All I'm getting out of it is a great classic chorus sound and the best vibrato tone I've ever heard. Tremendous.

the best

Forget all your boutique overdrive pedals that cost as much as a good amp. pick up this legend instead, you wont regret it. to me it sits somewhere between a tubescreamer and a klon-style transparent overdrive. just a little colour, just a little grit. perfect if you ask me

hound_of_durango

great, all in how you use it

I will admit, I dislike this pedal by itself. I don't care for the sounds I get out of it and there isn't enough control. The magic happens when I stack it though. I put it on my board in front of a simple RAT and it just comes alive! Not only that, but using something after the pedal allows you to filer tone and distortion amounts to really dial things in. And what a huge tone you can get! It's tremendous. Thick, just a touch velcro-y, and it sounds particularly great with simple riffs and basic power chords. It's very limited in it's use and it requires some work, but well worth a shot, especially if you can pick one up cheap and used like I did!

hound_of_durango

Exceeds expectations

I thought this would be a cool pedal, but I didn't anticipate never wanting to turn it off. Amazing classic chorus tone, which is why I bought this, but it's the vibrato that truly shines! Adds just a little something to your sound that makes everything better somehow. If you see one anywhere, pick it up immediately.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Vibrato mode- Slow speed, high depth, bright EQ is a great always on sound!

Wild. But…

This pedal is like most Earthquaker pedals- capable of doing light modulation or effects, but also just as likely to produce sounds of complete madness. I want to love this, I really do. I believe in the company and their products. Something just isn’t doing it for me though. If, like myself, you want a more standard chorus that can thicken things up and get that nice icy 80s clean sound, this probably isn't it. This, no matter how I mess with the settings, isn’t giving me that. I don’t think it’s trying to though so I can’t fault it. Check out some videos and see what you think. Might be perfect for you if you want something unusual!

hound_of_durango

Wild.

This pedal is quite absurd, able to produce an absolutely huge range of tones from a couple of very small shifts of the knobs. Everything from thick murky fuzz great for riffing to sputtery nonsense probably not great for much of anything. That’s exactly what I love about this though. I highly doubt it would work as a primary fuzz for anyone. In fact, I’ve combined it with a Big Muff nano on my board. The Muff can do the basic fuzz stuff and I can turn the Stone Burner on when it’s time to get crazy and experimental. I’d personally highly recommend it for sonic adventurers, people with a more normal primary fuzz that want to try something different, and anyone that’s a fan of way huge pedals in general.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Just fiddle with it. Two subs down, level at 12 or less and little to no fuzz sounds awesome playing on the higher frets!

hound_of_durango

Solid and cheap!

A well made amp emulator for a great price. I use it at the end of my chain, more as a sculpting type of EQ than anything, but it works really well in that capacity! Thumbs up!

hound_of_durango

Great, when used purposefully

As a general overdrive going into the front of the amp, this thing was very unimpressive to me. The filter knob didn’t seem to do anything and the gain just made it boomier. The magic finally happen when I bypassed my amp and plugged my board right into my audio interface to record direct into my DAW. I then moved this pedal after an overdrive and a fuzz. It really came to life and drastically warmed up my sound. I was shocked at how great and useful this was, especially after previously writing it off. Highly recommended, assuming you can use it in this capacity. Well worth the $30 or whatever this thing costs presently.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Filter about noon and gain at 3 or so is great after overdrive/fuzz!

Excellent drive

I’m not really a tone nerd or snob, but I own this and an SD-1 and I decided to do a shootout with them. Much to my surprise, the East River is what has wound up on my board! I thought, for my needs, that the SD-1 sounded a little murkier and the East River also seemed to sound a little better and more clear in front of my Walrus Eras. In fact those two working in concert produced some of the best dirty tone I’ve ever heard. Heavy, but also clean and extremely articulate. Couldn’t imagine doing much better than that! And at less than $100, this is a steal. Looks cool too!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Tone up, volume @12, gain cranked!

hound_of_durango

Great!

Let’s be clear, the guitar in and of itself is probably 4 stars. It’s a good solid instrument with some nice features. For this price though- I think I paid just over $200 on sale at guitar center- it’s a steal! Great guitar for mods, I put a nice tray bridge on it, changed the knobs, tuners and etc and it just made it even better for not much more. Strings through the body is a great touch on a cheap instrument as well. I’ve used this extensively for recording and it sounds great! Also extremely comfortable to play with it’s simple style and light weight. Don’t hesitate if you want to experiment with a telecaster!

hound_of_durango

Solid noise gate

Not a ton to say about a noise gate, does the job well. Having some customizing knobs doesn’t hurt. I have it early in my chain to reduce the noise at the start from single coils. Works great!

hound_of_durango

The first pedal I ever owned

This is the first pedal I ever owned and I used it as a kid in our melodic black metal style band and it was perfect. Years later I got away from the sound, stuck the pedal in the closet, and forgot about it. I recently found it and started playing around with it again. What a joy! The sound immediately took me back. Razor sharp and perfect for high speed black metal. Also, no pedal that I’ve tried since has quite done chugging gallops like this! Sure you’re missing a mids option here, but everything else can be tweaked nicely.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Cliche, but everything at 12 is a real good start!

hound_of_durango

Bought on a whim, glad I did!

This is one of those pedals you don’t NEED, but once you have one you can likely find all kinds of cool uses for it. I’m currently nailing down a signature guitar tone that I can only describe as ‘watery’ and this has become integral to that, particularly with the detune mode, which produces a very nice almost chorus type effect. I haven’t even explored much of the rest of it, but I have a feeling this will have a spot on my board for a long time! Edit: I love this pedal. I’ve come to use it for almost nothing except for ‘detune’ mode, but I love that mode so much it was well worth the cost and space on my board!

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Detune!
