This is one of those pedals you don’t NEED, but once you have one you can likely find all kinds of cool uses for it. I’m currently nailing down a signature guitar tone that I can only describe as ‘watery’ and this has become integral to that, particularly with the detune mode, which produces a very nice almost chorus type effect. I haven’t even explored much of the rest of it, but I have a feeling this will have a spot on my board for a long time!
Edit:
I love this pedal. I’ve come to use it for almost nothing except for ‘detune’ mode, but I love that mode so much it was well worth the cost and space on my board!
This is the first pedal I ever owned and I used it as a kid in our melodic black metal style band and it was perfect. Years later I got away from the sound, stuck the pedal in the closet, and forgot about it. I recently found it and started playing around with it again. What a joy! The sound immediately took me back. Razor sharp and perfect for high speed black metal. Also, no pedal that I’ve tried since has quite done chugging gallops like this! Sure you’re missing a mids option here, but everything else can be tweaked nicely.
maybe the best sounding chorus i've ever used. the vibrato settings are also very good. the pedal looks cool. literally the ONLY real problem is that it runs on 18 volts. you either have to have a power supply that can deal with that(i didnt) or you have to buy a new one or use what comes with the pedal. so youre entire board would run with one power supply plugged in, PLUS this pedal plugged in by itself. really annoying. if you LOVE chorus though, prob the best you'll find.
I've read for years that this is the best chorus/vibrato pedal out there. i finally found one at a local music go round and bought it immediately. what you've heard is true! no volume bump/drop, unbelievable sounds, simple controls. plus, it looks cool. couldnt ask for a better chorus/vibrato.
Guitars and etc… 3
Let’s be clear, the guitar in and of itself is probably 4 stars. It’s a good solid instrument with some nice features. For this price though- I think I paid just over $200 on sale at guitar center- it’s a steal!
Great guitar for mods, I put a nice tray bridge on it, changed the knobs, tuners and etc and it just made it even better for not much more. Strings through the body is a great touch on a cheap instrument as well. I’ve used this extensively for recording and it sounds great! Also extremely comfortable to play with it’s simple style and light weight. Don’t hesitate if you want to experiment with a telecaster!
They come in a handful of different gauges, but I love flatwounds in general and there aren’t a ton of different options readily available. I primarily play metal, but I mix it with a fair amount of clean arpeggios and droning ambience. The first time I used these I was amazed at how smooth they were and how nice they felt to play on. You wouldn’t djent on them, but they’re otherwise more versatile that you’d expect. Give them a try!

What I love about reaper is how simple and clean it can be. I see videos and stuff of people using other DAWs and there are so many windows, colors, graphs, and everything else open that I’m astonished they can even get a sense of what’s going on.
Reaper is cheap, clean, and simple. And it has a ton of great stuff built into it should you choose to explore. I had never used a DAW previously and while the learning curve was a bit steep, a few YouTube watches and I was up and going. I’ve recorded and produced over 20 albums between my Silent Caesar and Hound Of Durango projects using reaper exclusively and all from the comfort of my bedroom studio. Check out the free version if you doubt me! Awesome stuff.
Downloading this is probably the single greatest leap my music has taken. I have 20 albums under my belt between my Silent Caesar and Hound Of Durango projects, of which I was the only musician involved. There is no other drum program that compares. I’d used Ujam products for a long time previously and those sound great and have some similar features, but nothing comes close to a real drummer, perfectly recorded, in a real studio. Has taken my music to the next level and the fact that the midi packs are $29 means I can keep adding and expanding my sound. Don’t hesitate.
I guess your impression will depend on what you need this for. Personally, I love it. It’s a keyboard in and of itself and features tons of great sounds from basses, vintage keys, percussion, and much more.
And it’s also a midi controller as well! I love the no keys style and it’s all very responsive. Great sequencing options and oscillators too. There’s lots more to it, but even non keyboard pros will find a lot to love here!
