Fender Dhani Harrison Ukulele Review | GuitarPlayer

guitarplayer.com

Fender's Dhani Harrison Signature Ukulele is a stunning instrument that captures attention with its beautiful aesthetics and solid craftsmanship. Its smooth playability and powerful amplified tone make it a fantastic choice for live performers. While it offers a rich sound and impressive projection, some players may find intonation issues past the ninth fret, which is a common quirk among ukuleles. Overall, it’s a worthy investment for both beginners and seasoned musicians looking for a reliable stage presence.

Review: Fender’s Dhani Harrison Signature Tenor Ukulele Has a Natural Feel and a Warm, Full Tone | Ukulele Magazine

ukulelemagazine.com

A colorful collaboration between Fender and Dhani Harrison, this signature ukulele boasts an attractive design and comfortable playability. While its amplified tone shines, offering warmth and responsiveness, the acoustic sound falls a bit flat, particularly in louder settings. The thinner body contributes to this muted sound, making it less ideal for jam sessions without amplification. However, the craftsmanship and aesthetic choices are commendable, providing a visually appealing instrument. Overall, it's a solid choice for those who prioritize performance over raw acoustic power.

In this video from Fender, Dhani Harrison discusses his signature model ukulele.

And you know, it's, as I said, it's the best thing for kids to learn when they're learning rhythm and chord structure, because it's, you know, you've got little hands, and I always found it hard playing big guitars when I was a kid. So I played a lot of ukulele, but I wanted to make one that I wanted to buy. So I got serious about it, and I went and researched all the ukuleles I could find.

And the guys at Fender were great. We just bought everything and took it apart and looked at it. And we went through many many iterations, fits really nicely. And it's just that right size. Some of them I find too thick. I loved this blue stain and it reminded me of like the color of like Hindu Gods, you know, like a Shiva blue. So I used the Shiva Yantra on the inside, which is kind of like a visual mantra.

On the back, we've laser cut that Shiva Yantra into the back. So it's kind of like a nice little magic spell giving you some love when you cradle it. Matching headstocks, it's kind kinda stands out a little bit. I wanted to do like a little Shiva moon, like the new Crescent moon, and then as it marks the passing of time through to the full moon, which is kind of with the Shiva forehead mark.

I just tried to reduce everything in size and weight. And it's very light, but it's not flimsy. That's the thing I like about it. I'm very, very happy with the neck. Really, really happy with the headstock. This is a good solid traveling, and this will be great on the road.

It's a real rite of passage I think to the first time you ever get handed your own signature model says something about you. You know, it's like the reflection of your design and what you choose. And I'm really proud of it. I'm really really happy.
