Description

Discover the harmonious blend of vintage charm and modern craftsmanship with the Gold Tone Mastertone OB-12 5-string Resonator Banjo. Designed in collaboration with banjo virtuoso Greg Rich, this instrument pays homage to the iconic "top tension" banjos of the 1930s, while incorporating contemporary enhancements. The OB-12 features a rich walnut neck and a 14-inch carved walnut resonator, delivering a tonal quality that merges the crispness of maple and the warmth of mahogany. This combination offers a commanding presence suitable for any musical ensemble.

The banjo's 11-inch 3-ply maple rim, paired with a Remo high-collar coated head and a prewar formula brass flathead tone ring, ensures a powerful and bright sound. The radiused ebony fingerboard, adorned with elegant "crushed lemon" inlays, provides a smooth playing experience. The unique top tension design allows for convenient head adjustments, making it as practical as it is beautiful.

Equipped with Gotoh planetary tuners for precise tuning and a Prucha Presto tailpiece to enhance volume, the OB-12 is built for performance. Whether you're on stage or in a studio, its vintage-style script logo and high-gloss finish evoke the elegance of a bygone era, while delivering the reliability and playability that modern musicians demand.
