Critic Reviews

Native Instruments Reaktor Prism – Synthtopia

synthtopia.com

Native Instruments Reaktor Prism presents a mixed bag for sound designers, offering a range of captivating presets, particularly in the realm of organic-sounding electronica. While praised for its versatility and affordability compared to alternatives like Ableton's Operator, some users find it less innovative than advertised, with certain presets being less user-friendly. Its appeal lies in its ability to produce intriguing sounds, though it falls short as a comprehensive sound design tool when stacked against competitors like Logic's Sculpture. Potential buyers should be wary of its limitations and consider their specific needs before purchasing.

Native Instruments Reaktor 5.5 and Prism · Tech Review ⟋ RA

ra.co

Native Instruments' Reaktor Prism synthesizer shines with its impressive versatility and sound quality. Reaktor 5.5 enhances the user experience with improved workflow, new synthesis modes, and a rich sound library. The addition of Prism, a polyphonic synth, provides a wide array of cinematic sounds and effects, making it a powerful tool for both creative exploration and practical use. While the complexity of Reaktor's modular system might be daunting, the update makes navigation more intuitive, and a wealth of presets helps users unlock its potential. Overall, this update is a worthy investment for those seeking advanced synthesis capabilities.

Native Instruments Reaktor Prism Mini-Review : From Every Facet - Audiofanzine

audiofanzine.com

Native Instruments' Reaktor Prism Synth is a unique virtual instrument that excels in producing percussive, bright, and metallic sounds. Its intuitive interface and clear settings are a plus, making it an accessible tool for sound experimentation. However, its unsuitability for live applications, due to sound artifacts when switching presets, is a notable downside. While not ideal for rich pads or brass, it shines in creating "unreal" ambiance sounds with a real-life touch. Its price and the inclusion of a free Reaktor Player add value, but the synth's complexity and CPU load demand consideration. Overall, a commendable choice for those seeking to explore new sound synthesis horizons.

I should use this more often.

I think Prism is oen of my favorite reactor instruments. I tried the free version for player and it caused me to upgrade. Nothing sounds like it. It makes these organ pluck and hammer sounds, strange digeridoo drones and such and it all sounds like a real acoustic instrument from another planet! Like moon men playing their moon xylophones or something. Its such a cool instrument. Just nothing else like it. I could try to talk about the features and how it works but I don't even get it entirely. its one of those few pieces of gear I just fiddle with at random until magic happens.... like programming a DX7 from scratch. A lot of unpredictability because of the bizzare architecture. There's probably a manual for it but whatever.

Very nice Synth

I use it for FX and it has also some nice lead sounds.

jimmarchi1

you can make some pretty unique plucked and hammered string sounds too.... like pianos and guitars from an alternate dimension

cole199910

Pretty cool

I like it, but its pretty hard to wrap your head around, it seems more like its for using the presets with it, and I'm not into that
