Orchestral Tools Metropolis Ark 2 & Berlin Percussion

soundonsound.com

Metropolis Ark 2 delivers a rich tapestry of orchestral sounds, boasting unique textures and expansive ensembles that lend themselves well to cinematic compositions. The library excels in quieter dynamics, allowing for dark and brooding atmospheres, particularly with its impressive low strings and woodwinds. However, some note tails contain unwanted noises, and its premium pricing might deter budget-conscious musicians. Overall, the combination of Metropolis Ark 2 and the Berlin Percussion collection creates a compelling orchestral palette, perfect for serious composers seeking depth and nuance in their scores.

Orchestral Tools Metropolis Ark 2 Review - The Epic Depths

musictech.com

Metropolis Ark 2 dives into dark, brooding orchestral textures with remarkable quality and depth. Its unique collection of low dynamic instruments, including rare woodwinds and rich brass, shines, especially in creating cinematic soundscapes. Notably, the legato patches offer a lush, albeit slow, responsiveness that may require some manual adjustment in production. While the percussion section feels a bit louder and less cohesive with the overall theme, the library is a valuable asset for media composers seeking subtlety and variation. It excels as a complementary tool rather than a standalone orchestral solution, making it a worthy addition for those looking to expand their sonic palette.

Unique and great sounding library

I use this library in combination with Metropolis Ark 1. They complement each other perfectly. The patches are deep but subtle. The whole kit is made as one thing so all the instruments sounds great together and have unique character. Be aware that there is some noise floor but i treat it like a feature of realistic sound of this library (only ocassionally it annoys me). The mic positions are great as always with Orchestral Tools stuff. You get children choir with amazing legato. There are a lot of articulations and unique instruments. This library in combination with Ark 1 is a way to make amazing orchestral music in my opinion.
