The ODE Banjo is a highly regarded American banjo known for its quality craftsmanship, clear tone, and historical significance in bluegrass and folk music. A handsome, lightweight revival of the ODE name, the Magician 12" wins praise for its craftsmanship, smart old-time features, and strong, full-bodied sound potential. The reviewer clearly likes the design—cherry neck, tasteful appointments, exclusive armrest, and an overall “beautifully crafted” feel—and sees it as an outstanding instrument worth playing a lot. The catch: out of the box, it ran brighter than his personal ideal, and getting it into his sweet spot took several tweaks to head tension, bridge, truss rod relief, and string gauge. That’s not framed as a flaw so much as a matter of taste, but players chasing a darker, mellower voice may need to do some setup work. Bottom line: an impressive, high-quality open-back banjo with real tonal flexibility, even if its stock setup won’t be everyone’s finish line.

There are some small dings and scratches on the back of the banjo as well as on the neck. No major cosmetic flaws. Some other scuffs here and there on the hardware but the banjo functions and sounds great! Has a cool sliding capo on the side.
