Build Difficulty (3/5) The majority of assembly done with basic tools, slightly more involved/complex soldering/wiring, more complex setup required such as locking tremolo bridges or headless configuration, great for all skill levels but some experience is an asset.

Quite the challenge for a "Beginner Kit"
Either this is not a "Beginner Kit" or I was just unlucky. For one thing, if you are building your first kit I don't recommend headless. I had a few big issues with the build.
(1) the locking nut at the top of the neck would not lock down over the strings. I had to get Solo to send me parts twice. First they sent me a filed down hold down but I also required a longer bolt/nut to actually lock down the strings. (2) Compared to my 3 other basses this one was like 30-40% quieter. I had to jack up my 60w almost all the way to get decent volume out of it, where with my other basses the gain is at like 10% and the volume at 50% and they are very loud. I got around this by replacing the pickups that came with the bass with some Ibanez PFR5-II pickups. (3) I had to do some fret levelling. The 12th and 15th frets were pretty high; a card would rock on them. Playing the notes would buzz terribly. Fret levelling is simple enough if you are patient with it and take the time, but not really "beginner". (4) The bridge that came with it was a giant hunk of metal scrap. The tuning mechanisms were impossible to turn without an Allan key; if I had to tune down I would often end up unthreading the nut inside the tuner. The default action was wayyyyy too high. I replaced the bridge some Guyker single string tuners and saddles. So far the pass through design and tuning mechanism is much easier to work with and doesn't require an Allan key to tune.
I don't think I've had this many bad things to say about an instrument before. The one redeeming thing was that Solo support was very attentive when I did reach out to them. But this kit could use some rework...or a price reduction. With A LOT of patience and time I got it to a point where it is playable and sounds alright; Its easy to practice on because its very light. 24 frets is also nice to have. It's a decent enough bass but if I doubt I will ever use it during a band practice or gig.
