I’ve talked a lotta smack but...
For all my bad mouthing (largely due to dubious/deceptive info floating around out there-mainly with the pre amp plugs) I really haven’t given the platform that the Universal Audio uses it’s due.
For those unfamiliar Console is the software front end interface for Universal Audio hardware- it does the same thing that many other interfaces come with- your standard routing & what not- but it’s clean and a pleasure to work with-also, the real time unison tech their plugins use is nice- I’d like to see better MIDI implementation but it’s expected soon (cuz, come on).
Being able to track with FX in real time is all sorts of inspiring- UA ain’t the only game in town here but they’ve got a handsome collection and several I use on just about every session. Think just about everyone has wished they could stuff a favorite plugin into pedal. In practice Console makes this happen for all of UA’s plugins.
Amp sims, modulation, Reverb, distortions, compressors (1176 models are damn impressive) etc.
In addition you can recall sessions how you tracked them on a session by session basis- a huge time saver when it comes to recall notes- it’s all right there.
