Affordable electric ukulele
The Vorson FLPUK-2 LP-Style electric ukulele is meant to be a great budget option without making any noteworthy compromises.
If you like Les Paul style guitars then this ukulele should really appeal to you. It is not an exact miniature version of a Les Paul. The bridge is more akin to one you would find on a telecaster. The single knobs each for volume and tone don't look too big or out of place. It comes in three color options, all which try to capture the look of some of the most famous LP-style guitars.
The sound is perhaps more important in the long run and this is where the price starts to show. Do not get us wrong. It is quite decent. Being electric also means that the sound depends a lot on the amp you pair this up to. It can deliver pleasing tones when used with a good amp. It does need some tweaking. The default strings aren't excellent either and replacing them with higher quality strings also improves the sound a lot. The pickups are fairly responsive and have a decent tonal range and the selector switch offers you three pickup configurations just like a Les Paul. Overall, you can get some decent tones out of this electric ukulele provided you are willing to put in some effort.
The build and finish is where the price really shows. Again, there is nothing seriously wrong with the build quality, it is just not excellent. There are certain tiny issues that could have been better but then again, most of these can be easily fixed with just a simple setup. The finish is great when it comes to the paintwork but the fret ends could have been better. They aren't all properly filed down or rounded off. The build and finish quality can also vary slightly from one ukulele to another with some being really great out of the box while others needing some setup work.
Considering all the great features and the versatility of this electric ukulele, its price is surprisingly good. It does have some minor flaws but nothing that cannot be fixed. Even if the cost of any additional work you might need to get done on this ukulele is taken into account, it is still a great bargain. The bridge is sturdy enough to allow you to use standard electric guitar strings which do improve the sound. It can also be tuned in different ways making it extremely versatile. At this price point, finding an electric ukulele as versatile and as good as this one can be a daunting task.
Bottom Line: The Vorson FLPUK-2 is an affordable electric ukulele with a few minor flaws, but none that significantly impact your playing experience. Overall, it's a great value for the price, with its cool looks adding the final flourish.
