The Yamaha G-50 and G-50A classical guitars are entry-level models from the 1960s and 70s' "G Series," differing mainly in their manufacturing dates and detailed specifications. While the basic design and materials used (e.g., spruce top, meranti/kapoor sides and back) are the same, the "A" (Ancho/wider or improved version) indicates minor quality changes depending on the manufacturing period, such as a slightly wider fingerboard or a modified bridge.
Generally, the G-50 was positioned as a more affordable entry-level model, while the G-60A was positioned as a step up in grade.
