In a live performance of "Eton Rifles" from 1979, Paul Weller is seen using a Peavey Backstage 30 amplifier. Although Marshalls are visible in the background, Weller personally confirmed on a fan forum that he used the Peavey Backstage 30 for the lead parts on "All Mod Cons" and extensively on "Setting Sons." It appears to have also been used on "Going Underground."

According to the Paul Weller artist page on Marshall's Official Site Paul played with a 1987X-PW.

In this interview with Total Guitar, Paul Weller says he uses a 1968 Gibson SG:

"What other guitars do you use?

Well, there's my 1968 Gibson SG, and on the album I used a late 1960s Gibson Firebird. I also have a three-pickup white custom SG from 1971, I think. That has a really fantastic sound and I reckon its one of the best guitars I've ever played."

Rickenbacher 330 Paul Weller "Whaam!"

Few guitars have embodied 'swinging London' more than Mod-God Paul Weller's stunning "WHAAM!" pop-art guitar. Crafted using a beautiful Rickenbacker 330, the guitar was custom modified with a Gibson Humbucker in the neck position to create a far more versatile guitar for Weller to use in the studio and on stage.

Despite these custom modifications however, it is of course the amazing artwork inspired by pop-artist Roy Lichtenstein that will always allow this classic guitar to endure. Lichtenstein’s 1963 masterpiece, “WHAAM!” was based on a page from a 1962 comic book, this is a guitar-art icon.

The TPP (The Painted Player) company makes Tribute Paul Weller "Whaam!" Rickenbacher 330 signature models for order.

In a live performance of "Headstart for Happiness" by The Style Council, captured in Japan in 1983 and uploaded by Maxim Rouge, Paul Weller can be seen playing the Aria Pro II PE-175 Herb Ellis. This semi-hollowbody guitar, similar in style to the Gibson ES-175 but featuring a Gibson L-5 type tailpiece and a metal tune-o-matic bridge, complements his performance with its distinctive tone.

Paul actually uses a light blue single cutaway Hofner Verythin, mainly for recording or playing in the studio.

Here Paul is playing a somewhat rare 1967'ish Gretsch G6123 Monkees model guitar in what appears to be the period when he was with The Jam. This guitar is very distinctive because is has the "Neo-classic" fretboard markers on both sides of the fretboards.

An an unsual outing with the Modfather playing an early 80's Ibanez Artist AS-50 with black pickups in 1984 on the British musical TV show 'The Tube' hosted by Jools Holland.

The Style Council - Live on Channel 4's The Tube, 19th October 1984. Recorded at the studios of Tyne-Tees Television in Newcastle Upon Tyne.

Paul used a Fender Stratocaster fairly predominently on his Style Council Cost of Loving release.
