Guitars 25

I have many guitars. Ranging from Suhr to Gibson, to G&L and Fender. This is by far my favorite to play. The neck is the best I've ever held. It feels awesome. Everything about this guitar is just "right". The pickups sound amazing. The boost that I admittedly thought was gimmicky at first is incredibly useful. The single coils are noiseless but still sound like great single coils. There is an adjustment in the control cavity that allows you to adjust the volume of Positions 2&4 to match the output of the humbucker. The trem stays in tune and the guitar is perfectly balanced. I am a true EBMM convert!
This is by far the best guitar purchase I've ever made. The workmanship is second to none. Everything about this guitar is exceptional from the neck, frets, pickups, intonation, playability, you name it. Still have yet to find someone to exceed Suhr quality.
I own several Strats. This is what they all want to be when they grow up. This guitar performs and sounds superb. The neck is a dream. Awesome fretwork. Once I got the pickups adjusted, this guitar sounds fantastic. Silent single coils beat and F style noiseless out there. Simply one of the best guitars ever. All 5 pickup positions are pretty even in volume. This is a great piece of gear.
Great guitar. One of the most versatile guitars I've ever owned.
This is a great guitar after a good setup. 24 frets of shredding goodness. Rolled edges, compound radius and Full Shred (as opposed to a JB which I do not like) in the bridge and a Jazz neck pickup complement each other very well. The 5 way switching is awesome as well. Great guitar for an even better price.
Been many many years since I've owned a Les Paul. Just couldn't deal with the baseball bat sized necks. This neck is perfect for me. I think it's called just slim taper (hate the D profile slim taper). Locking tuners, nut is great, pu's are great, action is great. This is just a really fantastic guitar and nothing really sounds like a Les Paul but a Les Paul. I have the Epi version as well but it doesn't sound like this. Sounds good but not like this. Both have their functions.
Very impressed with this guitar after a little set up work. The EVH D-Tuna takes some getting used to and some setup to get it right but once it's "dialed in", zero issues. The guitar has a fantastic neck and I really like the pickups. Had to polish the frets a bit. The low friction volume knob is great. Going to put that on several guitars I have. Guitar has a unique voice but I really like it and it sounds great live. I use it for kind of heavy country so it works out fine and I love the D-Tuna for that kind of work. This is definitely a keeper and gets played almost every live show I do so it gets lots of love. Really great guitar. I think the overseas market is really starting to catch up to the US in quality control and parts.
Needed some fret work and the pickups aren't the best. That being said, the Sustainer is phenomenal. Did do some fretwork on the guitar and replaces the humbucker and middle single coil, did a full setup and it's actually a very nice guitar now. Plays great and sounds great and the Sustainer gives it something none of my other guitars have. If you don't mind the work, this is a real fine guitar for the money you pay.
Acutally bought this in late 1987. This has been more than a workhorse guitar. It's the best playing and best sounding acoustic I own. I have Taylor, Martin and Yamaha. They aren't bad but they aren't this now discontinued beastie. Don't get me wrong, if you're not going to plug it into a PA or amp, pass, but plugging it in is magical. I have so many people coming to shows and ask about it. I've since had SS frets installed on it but basically that's it. Don't know what I'll do if it ever dies or gets stolen but I really do wish they would bring back the Songbird. It's a fantastic guitar.

I bought this cabinet going in knowing I would be replacing the speakers. They didn't really sound as bad as I thought they would (not a fan of the Celestion 70-80) but in this cabinet they weren't that bad. But... I did sell them to fund 2 Eminence Cannabis Rex and now the cabinet sounds awesome! Loads of punch and great mids and high end. Really good construction too. It's been on the road now for almost 6 months and taken some abuse but still holding up and looks almost new. Highly recommended for the price.
This thing is a little beast. Fantastic sounds. MIDI capable. Great sounding onboard effects. Redbox DI built in as well as noise gate. Independent EQ's on all 4 channels. Adjustable wattage (I use mostly the 18w setting). And best of all, 17 lbs. GET THIS AMP!
I have the 100w combo but liked it so much I wanted to use it with a fantastic 2x12 vertical slant cab I have loaded with Eminence Cannabis Rex (which are also fantastic). It contains a 3 inch internal speaker for home practice. This think absolutely kicks a$$. I use if for rehearsal with no cabinet and it more than keeps up with the drummer on the 50w setting. No cabinet hooked up, just the internal speaker. I also have a Mesa Express 5:50 and Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister 36 but they are sidelined for now. This head really does sound incredible and more than that, it FEELS like a tube amp. In conjunction with the Tone Studio software and full updates, this is amp is a beast. So so versatile, The effects are even more than solid. Boss has really thought this platform through and have come up with a solid winner. My Yamaha THR is gone. If you're on the fence, just get it. I am astounded at the quality of this little rig. It will be my go-to for some time. Everyone should have one in their arsenal if they are a working musician. And the head even without a cabinet and internal speaker alone, will more than satisfy the home player.
This is probably one of the best amps I've ever owned. They include Marshall, Vox, Laney, Peavey, Orange, Randall and several others I've probably forgotten over the years. This little amp is a beast. The cleans are pristine and the dirt channels are heavenly. My only complaint with it is the weight. But hey, that sound!!!

Effects Pedals 12

Was looking for an easy solution for live gigs. Checked out the Helix but I couldn't really get it where I wanted it. So, after watching Pete Thorn's demo video of the Headrush, I decided to try it out. Wow. Seriously impressed. I was up and running in 10 minutes. Touch screen couldn't be easier. I can easily change things on the fly live. I LOVE that aspect of it. The amp models sound awesome. The effects in it are great too but I think the Helix gives a little more tweaking but that's not what I was looking for. So now, I use this straight to FOH and run my own IEM mix. Again, I couldn't be happier.
A more versatile board I cannot imagine. The amount of effects this thing emulates is staggering. And by emulating, I mean virtually exact copies. A/B'd several of the stomp models with the real thing and cannot tell the difference. This is the ultimate all in one pedal board. I don't know how much all these effects would cost individually but I know I don't have that kind of money.
I love this pedal. Sounds incredible and can do everything from subtle overdrive to in your face metal. The boost is a great bonus.
I was looking for a preamp/DI box that gave me simple effects and some EQ and boosting abilities. This came along and looked like it would exactly fill those needs. It does. The unit sounds great. Really good EQ with reverb, tap delay, and a very nice one button chorus that sounds fantastic. My only reason for the 4 stars is that the output stage is very touchy and just a small bump on the output will really send my FOH preamps into overdrive. Seems like it really pushes the db's at about 8 or 9 O'clock so I have to be careful. Same with the boost. It doesn't take much at all.

Other Gear 4

Used to have V30's in a couple of different cabinets. A friend talked me into trying one of these. They sound better than the V30 to me. Less of that midrange buzzing that the V30's can get. These are also much easier on the wallet. Will always choose this speaker of the Celestion from now on.
Used Shure for years. When it gave up on me I decided to try this G50. It blows away the Shure. This is by far the best wireless I've ever used. In the last 4 years, it has performed almost flawlessly. Probably less than 3 dropouts that entire time. Pristine sound. Sounds better than using a cable. Get one.
Needed a solution for my Headrush Pedalboard and this one seemed good. Not a bad unit. Very little dropout and tone is very good. Had to already have a warranty replacement on the transmitter as the part that bends went out on me. Sennheiser support was excellent and had me a new unit in about a week.
