CRAFTED TONES, FORGED FOR ROCK Compact and powerful, the 100-watt Katana-Head delivers sharply defined rock tones with rich, commanding presence. The amp also includes integrated access to a huge range of BOSS effects, which are customizable using the free BOSS Tone Studio editor software. And with the powerful onboard Tone Setting memories, you can store your favorite amp channel setups and effects combinations for instant recall. In addition, the versatile Katana-Head is equipped with an effects loop and MIDI for integration with advanced rigs, and features a convenient built-in monitor speaker for tone preview and practice without a cab.
Katana Version 2: Expanded Effects, More Tone Settings, and Increased Performance Versatility
Available starting in October 2017, the feature-packed Katana Version 2 update adds many user-requested additions and enhancements to the Katana stage amp lineup. New SDE-3000 delay, Phaser 90E, and Flanger 117E effects bring the total number to 58, and the Tone Setting memories have been doubled for even greater versatility while performing. The update also includes newly added channel and global EQs for refined tone-shaping, powerful Cabinet Resonance and Air Feel direct out functions derived from the Waza amp series, and many other great features.
I have the 100w combo but liked it so much I wanted to use it with a fantastic 2x12 vertical slant cab I have loaded with Eminence Cannabis Rex (which are also fantastic). It contains a 3 inch internal speaker for home practice. This think absolutely kicks a$$. I use if for rehearsal with no cabinet and it more than keeps up with the drummer on the 50w setting. No cabinet hooked up, just the internal speaker. I also have a Mesa Express 5:50 and Hughes and Kettner Grandmeister 36 but they are sidelined for now. This head really does sound incredible and more than that, it FEELS like a tube amp. In conjunction with the Tone Studio software and full updates, this is amp is a beast. So so versatile, The effects are even more than solid. Boss has really thought this platform through and have come up with a solid winner. My Yamaha THR is gone. If you're on the fence, just get it. I am astounded at the quality of this little rig. It will be my go-to for some time. Everyone should have one in their arsenal if they are a working musician. And the head even without a cabinet and internal speaker alone, will more than satisfy the home player.
