I was surprised to hear Daft Punk cite Windowlicker as an inspiration for Discovery.
"The album's most intriguing tracks, accordingly, best embody Daft Punk's original goal of exploring a new musical landscape — one they claim is inspired by none other than Aphex Twin, specifically his undulating 1999 single 'Windowlicker,' which Bangalter called 'neither a purely club track nor a very chilled-out, down-tempo relaxation track.'"
1999 was really the last gasp before all the weirdos were pushed back underground and their ideas were watered down for general consumption.
Yeah, it went this direction instead. Emotionally, I blame everyone who voted for Ralph Nader in a state Gore could have otherwise won, but, intellectually, I doubt even Jello Biafra as prez could have held back the tide of bootcut jean suck for long.

Aphex Twin + TR-909 + TB-303 Live
I discovered Aphex Twin last week with Windowlicker (thanks to Max Cooper), it's awesome!
You can be sure I'll watch for what you sent.
I was 21 when Windowlicker can out, I remember going to a classmate's apartment and he pulls out this VHS tape (!!!) and pops it in, and we sat there mesmerized and laughing for the next 5 minutes. Music videos were still a big deal back then, and good camera equipment was still VERY expensive, so seeing something with that kind of production value, so dedicated to just fxcking around and weirding you out... it was great.

This guitar was a prototype made for Matt Bellamy specifically to play songs such as "Verona" live on the Will Of The People world tour. Being a prototype, this specific version was never made available for sale.
I'm under orders to limit the number of "1-of-1" items that get added to the database, because too many of those will drag down the site's search ranking (or something like that, IDK, not my area).
So after some thinking, new rule: to add a 1-of-1 items like this, you have to do it yourself, meaning you have to get to 500 Gear IQ points. Anyone that's put in the work to get there deserves to put in a few "dead end" items that nobody else can ever hope to buy or own.
The fastest way to get to 500 points is to do all the stuff on the profile setup checklist, put up some well-written reviews (you're doing that, thank you), and post some studio photos to your profile and then fill in the rest of the points with gear submissions to artists (each correct submission is worth 30 points).
If nobody reviews your submissions after a few days (common), you can add a comment with "@pkennethk" to your submission and I'll take a look. I'm a tough rater to please, but it's its better than nothing ;).

Currently Equipboard only has the MA-2 Evo and the MA-1 Classic. This guitar is no longer for sale, and reverb listings are incredibly rare for the base model, usually having sustainers and MIDI controllers etc.

I cannot add the following custom Strandberg 5 string guitar item that Jacob Collier is known for using in his studio:

I had not found it, I have tried to add equipment but the system rejects the "Reverb" links, I tried to put them in several ways (the links) and I have not been successful, I have also read how to write them but it always rejects them, thanks for adding them we. And if you can at some point delete the "artist" account, thank you! 👌
Anytime. The Reverb links are really finicky for all of us. What items have the url structures that work here and which ones don't doesn't always make much sense, and even some of the ones that seem perfectly structured don't always work, so just send them to the thread when you come across a problematic one and we can add them in (until you cross 500 points, then you can do it all solo).
When you add through the vintage/rare backdoor link (which you get at 500+ points) the system does a really thorough search for anything that might be a dupe, and that's when I usually catch whether or not the item is already in the system... that dupe-protection search is better than the regular site search in a lot of ways...

We are redesigning the artist page and I want your feedback and ideas
To me, the highest priority of these cards is to quickly communicate that these are products that this musician has used to make music, and you can dive in to learn more context about that usage, as well as jump in to getting more info about the actual product itself. I hear you about the disconnect between displaying affiliate links in one view and not another. When I look back at the data from designs past, it mostly seems like people find a way to click a link if they are interested or not whether or not it is on the artist page or not. I don't know exactly what is optimal to do here, but I do like that the designer is giving us elements we can use or not while we have her attention on this page.
Well, fewer things on the card means more design flexibility, lower cognitive load, etc., which is great. I'm glad to hear that putting all the affiliate links and prices upfront in the Artist-page card isn't high-priority, though I'd totally understand if it was.
Personally, I'm not big on having 2 different view modes... I almost always just stick with the default on most sites I frequent (I'm lazy like that)... though, I certainly understand the urge to please everyone when designing stuff, destructive as it can be... I've definitely been there.
Does it bother you having the icon to present the option?
Visually, the icon doesn't bother me, but settling for 2 decent view modes, instead of 1 really great view mode does kinda bother me... if you know what I'm getting at?
Whichever mode is the one you and Giulio feel should be the default, why not just put the effort into making that mode really compelling, instead of offering an alternative?

- There is a selection where you toggle the view between 3 items or 1 item per row
What is the high priority info for these item cards? If you're OK do drop the price and affiliate link info on the smaller card view, then I'd recommend dropping it for all card views. That said, if you guys see having the prices and affiliate links in the item card as a high priority, then put it in all card views.
