In this live performance of "Gimme Three Steps", Allen can be seen right at the very beginning of the video playing this Explorer. He is believed to have bought this guitar between 1974-1976, bu did not begin using it until 1976.

At 1:21 of this live performance of "Freebird", you can see Allen playing a Gibson Firebird. Allen used this guitar as his primary model for most of Skynyrd's Ronnie-era, and at one point owned up to 4 different Firebirds.

In the early years of Lynyrd Skynyrd, Allen Collins played a 1960s Gibson Goldtop with mini humbuckers according to scribd. His mother bought it for him for $500. It later became Gary Rossington’s main guitar until it was stolen in 1973.

Allen Collins is confirmed to have used the 1958 Gibson Explorer guitar while recording four of Lynyrd Skynyrd's debut albums, including the track "Free Bird," as evidenced by a photograph from the source.

On April 27, 1977, at the Richmond Coliseum in Virginia, a photo was taken that serves as the sole documented evidence of Allen Collins using a Gibson L6S guitar in his collection.
