Andy Shauf's Gear
In the Last.fm Sessions video titled "Andy Shauf: God Bless The Peaceful Man," Andy Shauf is seen playing a Sigma 000-15S acoustic guitar.
You can see Andy playing with the Waterloo in this Tiny Desk Concert
Andy Shauf used a Roland JC-40 for this Live at Massey Hall (Nov 23, 2017). Obviously, he chose this amp for clean sound, chorus and stéréo image (we can see 2 microphones in front of this amp). Here he use it as a acoustic amplifier.
Andy uses this mic for live performances. I know that he at least took it on his 2020 Neon Skyline Tour. His sound engineer, Justin Nace, confirmed that it is a 431 dynamic. Nace said it was chosen because of how great it is at picking up Andy's soft vocals.
Alongside other vintage guitars Shauf plays, he uses Harmony the most: "Tonight I played a “Silvertone”, It’s the bass player Josh’s. I have a “Harmony”, but I also have a collection of a lot of old guitars."
Andy used this to record The Neon Skyline. He sometimes added tracks on Pro Tools as well.
In an interview on Gearandloathinginsandiego, Andy Shauf is shown using the Empress ParaEq. Despite being partially covered with tape, the pedal is identifiable by its distinct knobs, color, and visible lettering.
He bought a 1970s Gibson J-50 dreadnaught specially for recording The Neon Skyline. >quote "Small parlour guitars are nice and punchy in the mid-range, but recording a dreadnought is better; it’s just way more balanced. It took me a long time to realise that the big guitars I didn’t want to play were actually the ones I wanted on my records."
Andy uses this Wurlitzer on many of his songs. He uses lots of pedals to get unique sounds out of it.
In an interview with Gearandloathinginsandiego, Andy Shauf mentions using the MXR M169 Carbon Copy delay pedal, highlighting its role in shaping his guitar sound.
Andy Shauf can be seen playing a Silvertone 1423
Andy has said he uses his phase 90 on his Jupiter electric guitar for recording, most recently on his album The Neon Skyline.
In this pic you can spot the pedal (https://gearandloathinginsandiego.com/2017/03/20/andy-shauf/#jp-carousel-2459)
You can see it in his pedalboard here
Not sure what exact model, but Andy used a friend's Buescher alto sax on Try Again.
Photos of andys pedalboard on stage show the supro delay along with other effects.
In a Reddit AMA, Andy Schauf explains that he used an Prophet 6, an ASM Hydrasynth, an Argon8, and a Roland RS-09 on his album, "Norm".

Andy mentions it being the "The real fuzzy guitar on Daylight Dreaming is the Jupiter through one of those little white JHS pedals" in the interview linked on the source. He is most likely talking about the JHS 3 series Fuzz.
Andy mentions using this microphone to record guitars in his Norm album. “I recorded the J-50 with an AEA R84 ribbon mic, but mine is sort of broken so it has this weird resonance happening."
Andy describes his drum mic setup on a Reddit AMA:
"Well, these days I put my r44 up over the kick and run it through my daking mic pre/eq and that sounds really cool... I'm really into the simplicity of a one-mic drum kit at the moment
I'm not 100% sure what I was doing on Norm... I don't track with compression because it's too hard to play and hear what it's doing at the same time...
shure 52 on kick
sm57 on snare
I may have used a bottom snare sometimes? probably a 57 too... though sometimes d19 has worked well
421s on toms usually
for some of this record I was using an akg d19 as overhead... but it started to feel a bit harsh in my super dry studio so I switched to using an advanced audio c12 clone
Norm is all tracked on my C&C superflyer kit (actually combo of two kits). Same drums we've been touring with lately, gold/green toms from my one superflyer kit, and then the beige 20" kick from the other superflyer kit. I really like how those drums sound".

In the Trailer video for his album "The Magician" at 00:42, Andy Shauf can be seen using a Höfner-style Violin bass. Quite likely it is the same as the one appearing in the NPR Tiny Desk concert. In the NPR Tiny Desk concert at 08:50, one can see that the neck has binding and the headstock a plastic Höfner logo decal. Therefore it might be even an original 60's Höfner Violin bass. The bass tone in the title song "The Magician" is a classic Höfner Violin bass tone.
