Charly García began using the Yamaha CP-80 Electric Grand Piano during his time with Serú Girán. Initially, he borrowed it from the Vitale brothers, who owned one of the first, if not the first, CP-80s in Argentina. At the time, Charly couldn't afford such an expensive instrument, but the CP-80's sound was a perfect fit for the evolving music of Serú Girán, offering the "bite" that the Rhodes couldn't. This instrument replaced the Rhodes he previously used with Sui Generis and La Máquina. During this era, Charly's primary setup included the Wurlitzer, CP-80, Solina, Clavinet, Minimoog, and Opus 3. He also experimented with the Sound City Piano by DMI, a simple analog piano similar to the Crumar Roadrunner and the RMI Electrapiano. This usage can be observed in the 1980 rehearsal footage of Serú Girán on YouTube, shared by RarezasSNM.

In this video of Charly García playing a Beatles song (There's a place) in his famous apartment in Buenos Aires, Charly is using a Marantz PDM740, a cassette tape multitrack made in Japan in 1993. When released it was the most expensive 4/6 cassette tape multitrack recorder on the market at a whooping £849, about £2053 adjusted for inflation.

The quality on this machine is topmost, it has warm preamps, VU meters, mixdown capabilites, several IO, punch in pedal inputs, many send-returns (Y cables) and a heavy external PSU.

Charly García is confirmed to use an Ibanez Talman TC530, as shown in an Instagram post by flacostereo1. The image captures García holding the guitar with a Gravure Flame Amber finish while on stage with Gustavo Cerati during a concert in Buenos Aires on October 23, 2007, celebrating his 56th birthday. It can also be added that in this video from the program "El Ritmo de la Noche" from 1994, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X6_nH9JocQQ, at minute 3:33, María Gabriela Epumer can be seen with the same guitar. She was Charly García's guitarist for many years until her death in 2003, so this guitar may have belonged to Charly's band or he took it as a very precious memento of María.
