Excerpt from source interview: CS: "Probably the newest thing that I've added to my rig is a Friedman Brown Eye.I just love that amp; I can't rave enough about it. It's just outstanding. It's bold and it gives you a little more leeway. Plus there's a lot of definition."
Original interview from December 2013 can be found here.
"The VOX AC30 is a classic amp and I used one a lot during the recording of my Dead Peasants record, and once I did some touring for that album, I started to see how that sound could apply to what I do in the Foos. I’m running two in stereo for my hot tone live and it’s pretty ripping. I’ve got those things pinned."
"I just like the distortion you get from driving an AC30 really hot. It’s nice and dirty but you can still hear the definition and notes. My Hand-Wired VOX AC30s are the tone that I’ve been looking for, for a long, long time. They give me all the fireworks, but all the subtlety as well!"

In this picture of Chris, you can see him playing his Flying V through two Vox AC30 Guitar Combo Amps.
At exactly 3:00 of the music video, you can see Chris running this 60’s/70’s Sound City Concord (40-watt) stereo alongside his usual Vox AC30. He is plugged into channel 1 on the Concord with the volume, bass and treble sliders at approximately 8 or 9. Channel 1 bypasses the built in spring reverb from the Concord amp.
CS: With Foo Fighters, I pretty much just play my signature model now because I designed that guitar to be exactly what I needed.
For Chevy Metal (Shiflett's side project with fellow Foo Fighter Taylor Hawkins), I got an EVH 5150 combo, one of the small ones. And I have a Strat with a humbucker in it and a Floyd Rose. You kind of don't want anybody to see you playing it [laughter], but it's perfect for that. Because we were doing all these Van Halen songs, I had to get something with a Floyd Rose. But I could not figure out how to work that thing for so long. [laughs] I couldn't even figure out how to tune it. I had to watch somebody on YouTube explain it.
