Marshall Origin 20C Review & Demo - The Guitar Magazine

guitar.com

The Marshall Origin 20C Combo is a nod to vintage amp lovers, blending classic Marshall tones with modern features. Its standout tilt control and gain boost offer impressive tone-shaping flexibility, making it a versatile choice for guitarists seeking that signature British midrange. The 20-watt power and three-way output switch cater well to both gigging and bedroom practice. However, its design has a few quirks, like tricky valve access and the lack of a speaker-silencing headphone port. Outsourced production might irk some, but the price point and sound quality make it a solid offering for those not fixated on UK manufacturing. Overall, it's a well-rounded amp with a few minor drawbacks, earning a positive nod for its tonal capabilities and user-friendly features.

Couldn’t ask for a better amp

Cream, Black Sabbath, Zeppelin, Thin Lizzy, AC/DC, Fleetwood Mac, Stooges… you ask and it delivers!

Sounds as phenomenal on blues and British Invasion pop rock as it does hard rock, metal and punk.

Another massive bonus is the output switch. That’s what sealed the deal for me on this. A wonderful addition to have when in the company of those who prefer quieter volumes or in a quieter setting.

Preferred Settings + Usage:

Gain - 8 o’clock (and pulled up)

Tilt - Zeroed out

Bass - 10 o’clock

Middle - Noon

Treble - 2 o’clock

Master - 3 o’clock

Presence - Noon

Great!

Definitely does the typical marshall thing with some good distortion or drive pedals, but not too dirty off the bat. It handles distortion well, but isn't easy to distort naturally. I would definitely recommend changing the tubes after a year or so, but thats with extremely regular use. \

henrico_gouvea

Great Plexi tones. But Not that flexible

Tone is great. Typical Marshall. Nevertheless even in the low power mode it’s not possible to reach breakup at lower volumes. You will ja e to crank it.
