In the video at 0:02, you can cleary see Dan Wilson playing a Gibson SG Oringal guitar.

Dan Wilson uses a Gretsch G6128 Duo Jet (90's) with the pick guard removed in the music video for Semisonic hit "Closing Time". Notice the larger headstock with a horseshoe-like inlay.

He acquired this guitar somewhere in 1999 or 2000, and this guitar is from 1952. He got it at Wille's American Guitars.

At 12:52 in this episode of Song Exploder, Dan Wilson recounts the writing of "Closing Time" and says:

Z.Vex Effects is based in Minneapolis and they had this new invention called a Fuzz Factory, which is this crazy sounding distortion box that makes a guitar sound like its this giant zipper being zipped. Very strange sounding. And Zach at Z.Vex Effects brought that Fuzz Factory to a party at my house and it was labelled number 5, so it was like the fifth one that they built and I use it on everything. It was that buzzy sound struck me as so insane. I loved it. And that's the sound of that solo in "Closing Time."

Almost all of Semisonic's songs I wrote on a Guild F30, a little acoustic guitar.

Dan Wilson uses the Yamaha C7 grand piano, as evidenced by Warren Huart in his LinkedIn article, "Recording the Perfect Piano Sound: A Deep Dive into Adele's 'Someone Like You'." Huart states, "The piano featured on 'Someone Like You' was our beloved Yamaha C7. That instrument lived in the heart of our studio and became part of its identity." This 7'6" grand piano is noted for its clarity in the highs, solidity in the low end, and a touch of warmth, making it a studio favorite for both solo pieces and dense mixes.
