HARUNA's comments about the guitar from the Dec. 2017 issue of Go!Go! GUITAR:
Putting an emphasis on appearance, I thought that a design that suits my current age and a guitar that I can use for a long time would be best. Since I have many guitars with dark-colored bodies, I made the body white and made parts such as the edges, tuning pegs, and pickups gold to bring out a sense of quality. Sounds don't rely on power, and I emphasized that aspect because we've had an increase in songs that are played with clean/crunchy sounds. -HARUNA

Haruna Ono continues to use the Fender Telecaster Classic Player Thinline Deluxe, despite it being described as a Classic Series model. This guitar blends features from the '72 Fender Telecaster Thinline and Telecaster Deluxe, including a semi-hollow ash body and Wide Range humbucking pickups. A fan note: It's challenging to find this model second-hand; it took me a year to locate one on Yahoo! Auction Japan, with no luck on eBay.
Haruna Ono uses the Fulltone OCD Obsessive Compulsive Drive pedal to achieve her signature overdriven sound, as shown in an image on Imgur.
Haruna used this when they first picked up instruments in 2006. A good choice for a beginner. She would play the Pacifica (with SCANDAL sticker!) when playing lives at Shiroten near Osaka Castle. You can find video of this online. Reportedly this guitar is now at their old dance school, Caless, in Osaka.
The guitar was first seen in the PV for Playboy back in 2012, this has been HARUNA's main guitar to this day.
The neck is designed to accommodate my small hands. When I play a regular Telecaster live, the sharp angle of its body hits my hips which can get uncomfortable. This problem is rectified by creating a contoured edge at the back of the guitar making it more comfortable when I use it for live performances. It’s also an easy guitar for girls to play. The finish makes the guitar stands out from a distance, and I think it has a design that both girls and guys will like. Of course, this is a guitar I can recommend to beginners as well. -HARUNA
