Josh Klinghoffer's Gear
Pedal 48 in Stompbox: 100 Pedals of the World's Greatest Guitarists, as can be seen in the quick browse video at 0:21.
The MK1.5 is by far the most tactile Tone Bender, or even fuzz, that I've ever encountered. It's really responsive to your playing dynamics and how much you dig in, sort of like a compressor.
"At the moment, everything splits through this Framptone to the three amps and then comes to each of these SGI boxes - radio SGI boxes. This is mostly for the fact that the cable run is so long from here and back to the amps. Although, in an attempt to try and consolidate and compact everything I think I may just end up actually just taking this away and having it at the back of the rack. So it would just have one out from the board which will run from one SGI box to another, and then I'll split that behind the amps. Yeah we've got festivals coming up and all this takes a long time to plug in," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
"I would definitely like to give a shout out to John Baudin for the Expressionator. This is a great device. It basically just allows you to use one expression pedal on up to three expression pedal expression devices. So it's basically like a three-channel split, but then you can apply whichever kind of taper you wish to that channel. Let's say you want to apply a reverse taper to one particular pedal, you can do that. The same movement will have a completely opposite effect on the pedal next to it. That's cool because the Cybertronic here, for example, would have to use a reverse wired expression pedal of its own but now I can just have one pedal, and the taper is reversed on the expression instead. You can set the span appropriate to the frequency range you're after for each pedal and it will remember that. So it is a really great device. Yeah, John Baudin is my man for that one," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.
"So we split and go three ways. The Marshall is actually also split through a Palmer PTINO, they call it, which is sort of like two amps into one cab device. So if the module, which is the spine of the sound, really ever goes off I can just hit that in a hurry and it re-routes the major signal through the 9200 and through the JMP-1 which is basically just a compact solution to something breaking as he's going to. Mostly I just needed something that was more reliable than the head that I was already expecting to break. But this does a pretty good impersonation for a song or two while I swap to a major head, and then we just hit it and swap back to the main supply. So as I was saying that one supply we split to the switcher. The other amps are perfectly realiable - I don't really worry about those so much. They're also not as big a part of the sound so no one is going to be throwing things at me from the top of the house if they suddenly lose the Fender or something," says Josh Klinghoffer's guitar tech.

Roland 808, 707, 606. I didn't have my 909 yet. There are also sequences from my predominantly Analogue Systems and Cwejman modular setup. We kept it really simple with the drum machines mostly using the one we used when first working on the song.

It appears that he was using this Pedal for a Session with Warpaint when in 2009 he shortly was the drummer in the Band. Their early concept was to switch Instruments to get a bigger range of variety - that's why you see him playing guitar while Theresa (Guitarist of Warpaint) played the drums.
Josh's guitar tech Ian states that both Josh and Flea use Shure wireless systems for their intruments. Josh has a few channels and has his main guitars plugged in and Ian quickly swaps wireless packs to others if need be.

I found a really nice Custom Shop Tele that I used on the Earthling tour. It’s a beautiful, very faded Olympic White Custom Shop Tele, and I’m going to put a B- and G-bender in it. That’ll come out with me.
