Mark Hoppus' Guitars

In this photo, posted by Mr. Hoppus 4th November 2014, he uses a sunburst-finished Telecaster with two soapbar P90 pickups. It's one of a special limited run made by Fender in 1994. The so called Junior Tele is a Custom Shop model and was a test guitar for the Custom Amp Shop in 1992. Fender only made 150 in Sunburst and 100 in Blonde finish. Later models had the smaller pickguard. This specific model was also posted by Mr. Hoppus few years earlier during a (maybe +44) recording session.

He commented it with: "In the studio. The song I started writing yesterday is evolving very fast, stuck in the punk-rock vein of the old blink-182, super excited about this! Advancing on guitars now. This guitar here is the best, Fender Tele Jr. Suggested and used by our old friend and producer Jerry Finn."

The late Jerry Finn was a famous producer for bands like Blink 182, Sum 41 and many more. He was a big fan of this model which kinda pays tribute to the Gibson Les Paul Junior. He posted some of his instruments on facebook which you can still find there (August 2021).

The specifications: Mahogany body and neck / 11 tone chambers in the body for weight improvement and resonance / Set neck / Pao ferro fretboard / 6105 fret size / 9,5" radius / 2 Seymour Duncan high output P90s / Non-locking Schaller/Fender American Standard tuners / American Standard Hardtail Bridge w/ string through / Reversed control plate with volume knob as closest to the neck for easy use / Custom Shop Logo on the back of the headstock /

An extremely rare and awesome sounding instrument. I own one by myself and I'm proud of it even soundwise as well as it's history with Blink and Jerry Finn. Tom has recorded Asthenia and many other songs with one of these.
