Mark Kozelek

“I’m just kind of relaxing back into my life, and I’m playing guitar a little bit every day,” Kozelek says. “The most recent guitar that I got that I love is an old ’30s L-00. I’m playing that so much right now.”

In the song "This Is My Town" Mark Kozelek remembers a time when he did play on a jazzmaster. Ironically, Mark later states it doesn't matter what guitar or amp he plays.

Here's the lyric: "I picked up a guitar and I plugged it in A 1960 Jazzmaster Sunburst"

He also states in a discussion about his self-titled 2018 album that it was "recorded in hotel rooms in San Francisco throughout the year, with mobile gear, mostly recorded on a 1960 Fender Jazzmaster guitar."

In this video from a live performance on "Late Night with Jimmy Fallon," Mark can be seen using a red Gibson ES-335 dot neck.

In the first photo uploaded to Kozelek's website (on 5/11/2017), he can be seen recording with Sonic Youth's Steve Shelley using a black Squier Classic Vibe Bass VI. This was taken during the recording of the Sun Kil Moon album Common As Light and Love Are Red Valleys of Blood, judging by the credits of the album having Kozelek playing bass and Shelley playing drums. Also shown is a photo uploaded on 7/31/2017, it shows the same bass with more detail

In this photo uploaded to Kozelek's website, a vintage 50's Fender combo amp can be seen. He used this amp along with his Squier Bass VI and 1960 Jazzmaster in his 2017 solo album when he recorded in multiple hotel rooms.
