Martin Rotsey
Martin Rotsey's Gear
Martin's main guitar during the early days of Midnight Oil was the olympic white vintage Fender Stratocaster used in this video. He's used others but this is the one he used most of the time with the Oils.
More recently Rotsey retired the strat and started using Jazzmasters instead. He has the white one here, and a sunburst one he uses a lot on recent tours with Midnight Oil and with other projects.
Both guitarists can be seen using the amps throughout the video.
Sometimes Martin would use a Fender Jaguar, such as on "When the Generals Talk" in this clip from "Oils on the Water".
Here's Martin Rotsey playing a Gibson SG Jr. in more recent years.
During the 2017 Great Circle Tour, Martin was using a black 12 String Takamine.
Guitar was used in official video of Blue Sky Mine
Martin Rotsey of Midnight Oil used a Gibson Falcon Combo Amp, specifically the 1961 GA19-RVT model, during the recording of their 1996 album "Breathe." One of these amps was sold on Reverb in 2018 from the Midnight Oil Reverb Shop to Elliotts Guitars. The amp was later traded for a Hot Rod Deluxe, and modifications were found in the circuit, including a tone-shaping mod to enhance bass. The original 'tone suck' capacitor remained intact, suggesting it was in this condition during the album's production.
Martin Rotsey played a Rickenbacker 370/12 for Short Memory during the Oils on Water performance
