Michael Landau's Amplifiers

"I used a ’63 Strat with a Maxon SD-9 Sonic Distortion pedal through a Suhr Badger 18-watt head into a Kerry Wright 4x12 cabinet with Celestion Heritage Series G12-65s."

"My favorite speaker is the Celestion Heritage Series G12-65. Unfortunately, it wouldn’t fit in the Deville. I tried the Tonespotter on a whim and liked it better than the stock speakers, but besides that the Devilles are stock. I only use the clean channel on those amps, with the volume set between 3 and 5."

In mid 2000's he used suhr guitars and cae amps , a cae od 100 classic with a marshall 4x12 (probably greenback speakers...)

from custom audio electronics: "The latest version of the OD-100 was developed when LA studio legend Mike Landau told John Suhr that he'd like the OD-100 Standard+'s Channel 2 to be like an early-70's British amp that he owned and adored. John borrowed Landau's amp and tweaked away, eventually coming up with a brand new Channel 2 and a new output section that duplicated and even surpassed the sound that Mike had come to love. The OD-100 Classic was born! The Channel 2 of the OD-100 Classic has much less gain than Channel 2 of either the OD-100 SE+ or the OD-100 Standard+. It's definitely more of a vintage voicing – like that of cranked non-master-volume amps with EL-34 output tubes – but you have the flexibility of the master volume to get that cranked sound and feel at moderate volume levels. Besides the completely new preamp circuit for Channel 2, the OD-100 Classic features the silver "Plexi-style" output transformer and EL-34 output tubes in the power section for a more authentic vintage British sound. The OD-100 Classic soon became Mike Landau's main gigging amp."

"For the main amp, I’m using a Hot Rod Deville 2x12 with Celestion V-Type speakers. I only use the clean first channel on those amps and do the rest with pedals."

He used matchless amp in studio and live from early 90's , you can see it in this Michelle Branch version of "heart shaped box" from 0:10

Find it on:

"I’m using the small pedalboard for the main amp ‘before the amp’ pedals, and the wet amp pedalboard for the wet amp, which is a reissue ’65 Twin Reverb with the Strymon reverb in Channel 1 and the Strymon delay in the second channel."

In TikTok video of Michael Landau at the Baked Potato Jazz Club, Michael Landau is using a Marshall JTM45 45W Tube Guitar Amp Head as a dry-signal amp connected to a reactive load. But nowadays, Princeton-style amps are mainly used for dry signals, and the JTM45 is used for wet signals.
