Telecaster Discussion Page Reissue, March 5, 2012, "Mike Oldfield's Tubular Bells Telecaster"
I am lucky to be the custodian of Mike Oldfield's Fender Telecaster (neck date Nov 66) that he used to record TUBULAR BELLS. Mike fitted a Bill Lawrence pick up to the guitar. The guitar was used to record all of the electric guitar parts on the album. I have been using the instrument in the studio and it has a really great sound, lots of sustain. Before Mike owned the guitar it belonged to Marc Bolan. In case members are interested, I have put a video together for You Tube. Here is the link

It's world mental health day today!
In 2009 Mike Oldfield sold me the Fender Telecaster he used to record the album Tubular Bells. It's the only electric guitar on that album. Mike got the guitar from Marc Bolan.
Mike donated the money from the guitar to SANE, a mental health charity. I try and do my bit to raise money for SANE with the guitar.
Mike uses the Fender Classic Series '72 Telecaster Deluxe Electric Guitar 3-Color Sunburst on his videoclip of the song Moonshine. It's the only guitar he plays there.
