Mike Rutherford

Mike Rutherford uses 2 Peavey Classic 50 Combos on his 2004 Tour (see DVD "Live at Shepherds Bush").

"There are no pedals, just one delay. Sometimes I use a little Peavey amp because it has a warm, clean sound, or otherwise maybe a Vox AC30 and little Fender Superchamps. Acoustically, I use a Taylor which is very nice for both writing and recording."

Mike Rutherford states in this interview with PremierGuitar, "The key thing in my rig is an old Fender [Hot Rod] DeVille 4x10. I’m running the guitar and pedals into it. I sometimes run them in stereo, with one amp being the straight sound and the other having delay only."

Look on page 22 you will see Mike with 2 of these heads in his equipment rack, one was a back up....these heads are no longer available but were used by Mike Rutherford just the same.

In this Guitar World article of October 14, 2021 about Mike Rutherford's favourite Squier Bullet Strat.

“Sitting at home in Cape Town plugged into his Blackstar 3-watt amp, Mike just fell in love with [his new Squier Bullet Strat] playing along to his laptop and relearning all the Genesis songs. That was him for almost all of the first lockdown because he wasn’t allowed out of Cape Town."

At the 4:52 mark in the video "Genesis 92 Rehearsal footage" by David Lightman on YouTube, Mike Rutherford is clearly using the Groove Tubes Trio Preamp.
