Rex Brown's Amplifiers

Rex Brown, bassist for Pantera, Down, and Kill Devil Hill switched to Samson/Hartke products in 2013. Larry Hartke sent him the Hartke Kilo Bass Amp and Rex Brown has used this head at every performance since. This photo from SamsonTech.com is a promotional Hartke shoot of Rex with his new rig.

The Hartke Kilo is a 1000 watt, Hybrid Tube Stereo Bass Amp featuring a 10 band graphic equalizer.

This video from SkullsNBones.com features Rex Brown, known for playing bass guitar for Pantera, Kill Devil Hill, and Down, with his brand new touring rig. The majority of his equipment is now gear given to him from Larry Hartke. This video shows him playing through a Hartke HyDrive 810 Bass Cabinet. The spacing between speakers 3 and 5, as well as 4 and 6 shows that this is not in fact 2 hydrive 410 cabinets stacked, but the big 810 itself. This Hartke HyDrive 810 is a 2000 watt beast featuring half paper, half aluminum cones.

In this video at 13:34 is is said that Brown used two Randall RBA-500 ES Amp Heads, he wound run each of these Heads through one 4x10 Cabinet and most likely one 1x15 cabinet.

This setup was used until the relese of "Cowboys From Hell" in 1990.

In this video at 13:49 Brown says around 1990 he used two Ampeg SVT-Pro Amp Heads run through 8x10 Cabinets, the number of these 8x10s went up or down depending on the size of the venue they played which was around 2-6 cabinets.
