Taylor Swift's Gibson electric guitar, which she can be seen playing in this video of her performance of the song Red (Live from New York City) appears to be a Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue. The color most closely matches Candy Apple Red. The 2:42 mark in the video provides a good look at the guitar.
The knobs, the pickups (and the trim around the pickups), the pickup selector switch, the headstock, and the neck all match the look of the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue. While the headstock on Taylor Swift's Les Paul appears to be missing the "Les Paul" signature, it is an optical illusion caused by the concert lighting. A few angles reveal it is indeed written on there.
One of Taylor Swift's electric guitars of choice is a Gibson Les Paul. No stock model exists that matches hers exactly. Swift's particular model appears to have been modified, the most apparent modification being the refinished body and the applied sparkling beads and crystals.
There are several elements of the guitar that closely match the Gibson Les Paul Special SL. The short height pickup mounting rings on both the bridge and neck pickups, the flat top, and the dot inlays on the neck. Taylor Taylor Swift Signature Acoustic Guitar Natural 3/4 Size Dreadnought
Steel-string Acoustic GuitarsIn 2009, Taylor Swift's signature model, the Taylor Swift Baby Taylor (TSBT), was introduced as a collaboration between the singer-songwriter and Taylor Guitars. The release of this model is a continuation of Swift's relationship with the brand, as she frequently uses, plays, and records with other Taylor Guitars.
The TBST is based on Taylor's Baby Taylor model, which Swift used in her early days of touring and writing songs. She says, "I used to sit in the back seat of the rental car while I was on my radio tour at 16, writing songs on my Baby Taylor guitar... I love the sound, and I love those memories."
In terms of the inspiration and motivation for releasing a signature model, Swift says, "I wanted to share my passion for playing guitar with my fans... For a beginner, finding the right guitar can be intimidating, but this guitar, it's the perfect size. Even if you've been playing for years, it's a great size to travel with."
The TBST has a 3/4-size Dreadnought body, and is crafted from a resilient sapele laminate body with a solid Sitka spruce top. Around the soundhole is adorned with Swift’s custom design, her expression "Love, Love, Love" amongst vines. Her signature is also inscribed between the soundhole and the bridge.
