FAQs

What makes the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue Electric Guitar unique compared to other Les Paul models?

The Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue features a mahogany body with a maple top, a set-neck construction, and a vintage-style nitrocellulose lacquer finish. Its distinctive "Goldtop" finish and historically accurate PAF-style humbucking pickups give it a classic tone and aesthetic reminiscent of the original 1957 model.

How does the neck profile of the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue affect playability?

The '57 Reissue features a chunky '50s neck profile, which offers a substantial feel and is ideal for players who prefer a thicker neck. This profile provides a comfortable grip for chord work and soloing, making it suitable for a variety of playing styles.

Is the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue suitable for playing blues and rock music?

Yes, the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue is highly suited for blues and rock music due to its warm, rich tone produced by the PAF-style humbuckers. Its solid mahogany body and maple top contribute to a full-bodied sound with excellent sustain, perfect for these genres.

What type of finish does the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue have?

The Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue features a VOS (Vintage Original Spec) nitrocellulose lacquer finish, which is designed to replicate the look and feel of a vintage guitar. This finish allows the wood to breathe and age naturally over time, enhancing its vintage appeal.

Are the pickups on the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue suitable for high-gain music styles?

While the PAF-style humbuckers on the '57 Reissue excel in producing classic rock and blues tones, they can handle moderate gain settings well. However, for extremely high-gain styles, players might consider additional effects or a different pickup configuration for optimal performance.

Taylor Swift's Gibson electric guitar, which she can be seen playing in this video of her performance of the song Red (Live from New York City) appears to be a Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue. The color most closely matches Candy Apple Red. The 2:42 mark in the video provides a good look at the guitar.

The knobs, the pickups (and the trim around the pickups), the pickup selector switch, the headstock, and the neck all match the look of the Gibson Les Paul '57 Reissue. While the headstock on Taylor Swift's Les Paul appears to be missing the "Les Paul" signature, it is an optical illusion caused by the concert lighting. A few angles reveal it is indeed written on there.

Recognisable due to the sanded down look of the finish, Mike has been frequently seen with his Les Paul Custom. He said in a Rig Rundown that it was a '57 Reissue, used mainly because of pains in his hands.

Edit 5-15-2019: Previous photo showed Mike's 85 Les Paul Custom in pewter (Greenish metallic color) in the new photo listed is the correct 57 Les Paul Custom in Faded Cherry finish. Also you can see better photos of it if you go onto reverb and go to Russian Circles Reverb page where Mike Sold it a few years ago!!
