In the documentary film "Naked and Famous," Tricky is shown using the Yamaha QY20 Music Sequencer at his old school, as captured in an image on Or-bits.

Spin magazine December 1996 article on Tricky by Chris Norris:

As we sit on his hardwood floor, Tricky shows me his primary instrument: the Yamaha QY-22, a black device about the size of a volt meter. “I put together most of the album on this,” he says. “The whole bass line on ‘Christiansands,’ most of ‘Tricky Kid,’ the strings from ‘Bad Things,’ ‘Lyrics of Fury.’”

Per this article from e-Musician, engineer Vincenzo LaRusso notes that “Tricky likes raw-sounding synth sounds... these, layered with heavy guitars and dirty drums, help drive ‘Council Estate.' The first thing he wanted to do was enhance the drums by adding heavier samples to beef things up. I introduced Tricky to Drumagog on this record."
