In this video for Jackson Guitars, Brandon talks about his custom shop Jackson Kelly. This is his main guitar on tour. One mod brandon did was a custom pickup. The pickup was made by combing a coil from a Duncan parallel access distortion, and a coil from a crazy 8. The pickup came about after Brandon experimented with pickups and their magnets. He didn’t like that high output pickups got too dark when wound more. By combining coils from two separate pickups, it added treble and overall brightened his tone. this pickup is not something that is offered by Seymour Duncan, but instead was a something Brandon “Frankensteined”
In this video for Jackson, Brandon shows off his Jackson custom shop kelly. This is his main tour guitar. The guitar is the first kelly to have 27 frets. 27 frets started as a way to one up people, but became more practical for solos. The guitar is fitted with a pickup brandon made himself by combining the coils of a duncan parallel access distortion and a crazy 8. The guitar is in a custom crackle seafoam finish.
