Description

Introducing the EVH 5150 Iconic Series 80W Head, a powerful guitar amplifier engineered to meet the needs of both gigging and recording guitarists. This amp is inspired by the legendary EVH 5150 series, offering the searing sound and growling gain that defined Eddie Van Halen's pioneering style.

This amp head is powered by four JJ 6L6 power tubes and two JJ ECC83S preamp tubes, providing the firepower needed for any musical setting. The Green channel offers a lush, clean sound that can gain up with the push of a button. In contrast, the Red channel's burn button ignites a fiery crunch, perfect for face-melting leads.

The 5150 Iconic 80W head comes with dedicated Gain and Volume controls for each channel, allowing you to balance levels when switching between the clean and high-gain channels. The Red channel's noise gate provides a quick attack, perfect for articulating staccato riffs without choking the sustain. For solos that cut through the mix, a footswitchable Boost on Channel 2 adds 10dB of volume.

This amp head doesn't just sound great, it also looks the part. Wrapped in textured black vinyl with a brushed aluminum faceplate, steel grille, and vintage-style controls, the EVH 5150 Iconic 80W head is a visually striking piece of equipment that embodies the signature EVH style.

Review: EVH 5150 Iconic — AudioTechnology

audiotechnology.com

The EVH 5150 Iconic Series 80W Head delivers a rich, dynamic tonal palette perfect for high-gain enthusiasts, making it a formidable choice for stage and studio alike. It excels in taking pedals well and boasts a variety of sounds that can cut through a full band mix. However, its considerable weight and limited clean headroom might deter some players, and the cleans aren’t its strongest suit. While it offers a mild built-in reverb, purists may prefer external options for more versatility. If you're ready to embrace its heaviness, the 5150 Iconic is a powerful tool for those seeking that classic "brown sound."

Review: EVH Iconic Series 5150 80W Head - Mixdown Magazine

mixdownmag.com.au

This review of the EVH 5150 Iconic Series 80W Head paints a picture of a versatile amp that honors the legendary original while delivering modern functionality. With its dry clean tones and soaring gain, it provides a solid foundation for various styles. The noise gate and speaker-simulated line out are practical features that enhance its usability for recording and practice. However, the two-channel setup may feel limiting for some players, and the reduced gain compared to the 5150 III might not appeal to those seeking maximum drive. Still, for fans of Eddie Van Halen’s signature sound looking for an amp that balances nostalgia with contemporary needs, this model is a compelling option.

Badass!

This right here is an example of a great amp! At volume 3 this thing can shake a whole house! it is well designed, Sounds brutal, and versatile for any genre. It even has a built in boost which is very nice. If you are looking for a high end amp but, don't want to spend the money on a peavey 5150 go for this! For 80 watts this thing can really push air! This is an amp you wouldn't want to pass up!

dusanslavysynjanek

very good

Very good stuff. It may smell strange at first because new tubes can burn off dust, but then it works well. The sound is above average, reminiscent of a rougher Marshall, but sharper. It's not perfect, but it won't disappoint. The price is an advantage.
