Founded by Steven Fryette in Los Angeles in 1989, Fryette Amplification is a manufacturer of hand-built vacuum tube guitar amplifiers, speaker cabinets, power amplifiers, and effects pedals. The company originally operated under the name VHT Amplification and made its mark as the first manufacturer to produce a true three-channel vacuum tube amplifier. Before starting the company, Fryette honed his craft as a repair technician at Valley Arts Guitar, where he performed custom modifications for players such as Steve Lukather, Larry Carlton, and Ry Cooder. The VHT trademark was sold to AXL in 2009, at which point the company rebranded to Fryette Amplification.

Fryette's product line spans high-gain amp heads, combos, rack power amplifiers, and innovative utility products. The Pittbull series — including the KT88-powered Ultra-Lead and the EL34-driven Hundred/CLX — established the brand's reputation for aggressive, high-gain tone with exceptional clarity.
