Kemper is a German music technology company based in Recklinghausen, founded by Christoph Kemper, who previously created the Access Virus synthesizer. The company debuted the Kemper Profiler at the 2011 NAMM Show, introducing "profiling" technology that captures the sonic characteristics of real guitar amplifiers, cabinets, and microphone setups as digital models. Unlike traditional amp modelers that rely on pre-programmed simulations, the Profiler allows users to create accurate digital replicas of any physical amp they have access to.
The Profiler lineup spans several form factors: the original Profiler Head and Rack units, the Profiler Stage (an all-in-one floorboard), and the compact Profiler Player for pedalboard integration. Kemper also produces the Kabinet and Kone speaker system, designed specifically for use with the Profiler, as well as the Profiler Remote foot controller and Rig Manager software for managing profiles across desktop and mobile devices. The MK 2 series brought updated hardware across the product line.
Kemper gear has been adopted across a wide range of genres. Artists on the Kemper roster include Paul Gilbert (Mr. Big), Pat Metheny, Steve Morse (Deep Purple), James "Munky" Shaffer (Korn), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Mark Hoppus (Blink-182), Wolf Hoffmann (Accept), Steve Winwood, and Luke Kilpatrick (Parkway Drive), among many others.
Kemper has 23 products cataloged on Equipboard, including Guitar Amplifier Heads, Switch Effects Pedals, and Amp & Cabinet Simulators. Their gear is featured by 436 artists, with the strongest followings in Rock, Metal, and Pop. Notable users include Matthew Bellamy, Matt Heafy, and Frank Turner. Most Kemper products sit firmly in the high-end, boutique range.
